HI Guys, I bought a second hand PC and when I switch it on its asking for

"Please Insert Compact Disk labelled WINDOWS XP Proffesional Service Pack 3 CD. You can also Click OK if you want to download from alternate location such as a floppy Disk"

So I dowloaded the Service Pack 33 to a floppy disk from their update site

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=24

I have put the disk in the offending computer now its asking me for

"The file "ASMS" on windows XP Proffesional Service pack 3 CD is needed Type the path where the file is located E:\1386

Any ideas what path this may be on?

The don't need the service pack, you will need a Windows XP Professional CD with Service Pack 3.

Try extracting the SP3 installer with Winrar (if possible) and point to that folder. The install will probably need other files not included in the SP3 distrib though, try re-installing Windows would be my advice!

If they guy who installed it is worth his salt, he may have copied the installation source onto the hard disc. Search for a folder i386. The setup path is easy to change in the registry too so Windows will find the installation files if needed.
