i must say i tink john evans stepping down is a big loss for tipperary football. okay results have been poor this year but i think the players of got to take alot of the blame for it. since evans has come to tippeary the gained bac to bac promotions to division 2,while were only 1 point off safety before getting relagated. he managed tipp to their first ever munster u 21 football title and was both coache to both the minor all ireland and high school all ireland winning teams. the enthuaism he brought was unmatched. i no that alot of the senior players didnt like his style and were getting sick of him and i feel that thier attitude played a big part in his stepping down. what are your views to this?

Think he was becoming too like a broken record. has done some great work but time to move on and bring in a fresh face. likes to be the centre of attention. talks far too much. compare this to the likes of jack o connor, who talks but says nothing,if you get my drift.

yes he did indeed talk to much...but he knew his stuff and only 4 him we wouldnt have won a minor all ireland last year, but i also think that many of tipp players are over rated and that he did very well with the limited amount he had to work with. but here comes the question who is the best person to take over from him?

He had nothing to do with the high school winning an all Ireland, he took them for one training session but had no problem taking the credit when the daily star came calling.

Also regard the minors, to say he won them an all Ireland is a huge insult to all trainers of both club and county teams over the last ten years. He wasn't involved in the coaching of these players, as with the 21's.

Did a good job with seniors for a few years but a change was definitely needed.

Some fine young players in Tipp now after the minor and 21 success.
Should aim high for a replacement. somebody like Liam Kearns. worked well with Limerick for many years, came into the same scenario that Tipp have now. was really unlucky not to win a Munster or 2 but the "big" powers were always able to sway ref's 50/50 decisions in their own favour.

100% spot on. He was the name and had the power to put his face on any of the success Tipp achieved underage, but the reality is he was far removed from it and only made an appearance when it suited to bolster his image.

Convenient that he walks now that the GAA are cracking down on paid professionals in charge of teams.

The Tipp minors was a work in progress from when these guys were much younger. The year before last, Tipp won the u17, u16, u15 and u14 Munster football titles, are you going to tell me that was down to Evans as well?

In my opinion, Tipp are better off without him, they were blessed to stay up last year and they have had an awful time in the league thus far and are definetly going down.

Would David Power not be ready to step up after managing the All Ireland Minor winning team?

power is stil very young in management terms.( hes nly 28) he has stil has alot to learn and i cant see him being manager for at least another 5 or 6 years. he has another good crop of minors and it wil interesting to see how they get on witou johnny evans as coach.

Amazing the instant Evans is gone, the players manage to get a draw off top of the table Longford.
