Great experience at the dentist (getting a filling)

    Hey all,

I just came back from my first dental treatment in about ten years. I got a couple of fillings when I was a kid and they were horrific (had a horrible dentist who was very rough). Because of that, I avoided the dentist as an adult and, although I knew that I should go for a check up at least, I kept putting it off.

Well, I finally decided to bite the bullet as one of my back teeth was bothering me. Went to <snip> and got the check up for free (including x-rays) 'cause of PRSI (was happily surprised that PRSI still pays for anything!). Was told that I needed a filling and I also wanted to get a small chip on a front tooth sorted out.

Went back today and I was fairly scared. Had memories of my old dentist who really caused a lot of pain for me.

So, came in and, first of all, was terrified of the needle to numb the area. The dentist was lovely and put in some gel and, being perfectly honest, I didn't feel a single thing from the needles. It took a while, but I felt nothing.

Then he sorted my front tooth. There was no need to numb that area 'cause there was very minor work to be carried out.

Next, he did my back tooth. That took a bit longer, and I still hate the sound of the drill, but I didn't feel a thing.

Afterwards, he polished my teeth at no extra cost.

I came out of there feeling happy as a very happy person! I had dreaded this visit for so long, but it really amounted to nothing.

I just wanted to say, for anybody who's been putting off the dentist as I had, times have changed and things are much better.
