Gorenje GV60010 Integrated Dishwasher - Lower Spray Arm not working

Hi All, I have a Gorenje GV60010 Integrated Dishwasher. It hasn't been working very well for a little while now, not always washing the dishes properly . I discovered today that the lower spray arm is not turning while the washer is in operation. The upper arm sprays water and turns no problem, but the lower arm doesn't move, and no water comes out of it. The lower arm can be spun round by hand so it's not stuck, and the holes in it are not blocked. My husband has blown through the pipe that feeds water to the lower arm and it does not seem to be blocked. Also the washer fills and empty's properly without problems.
Anyone any ideas what might be the problem? or has anyone else had this problem. Read through the installation and instruction manuals with no joy. Any help anyone can give would be most welcome. :)

Hello - I have exactly the same problem - I am wondering if you got this sorted out.

    Many thanks!

    Hi, Yeah we did!!
My husband decided to investigate the other day and he discovered that the spring controlling the "Half Load" flap had become weakened. I'm sure you know that if you choose the half load function on the machine, you only put items into the top tray, and only the top arm will function.
So what was happening with ours was that the flap in the valve thingy which controls this was closing every time water went through because the spring was worn. This in turn prevented water from getting to the lower arm.
As we never use the half load function, my husband just removed the flap completely and viola one perfectly working dishwasher.

So if you are brave enough to fix it yourself (or know someone who is), here's how he done it -
    1. Disconnect from water and power supply and remove the washer from under the counter.
    2. Remove one side cover and the lower front plate under the door.
    3. Under the washer you will see the main motor. Attached to the bottom you will see a grey coloured unit with two push on connectors (wires) attached.
    4. Remove this unit by undoing the 4 screws.
    5. On the unit you have just removed will be the white half load flap.
    6. Remove the flap completely (half load function will no longer work though).
    7. Put the unit back on as you removed it, put side cover and bottom plate back on, washer back into place, connect water and power and hopefully off you go.

Hope this is of some help to you. We are delighted to have a properly functioning dish washer again.

I've just finished running through your instructions and my dishwasher now works again!

So many thanks - very much appreciated - there is no way I would have managed to work that out!
