    The 1900 penny is Queen Victoria, she died in January 1901.

    Up to decimalisation in Feb 1971 those coins were common in pockets and purses here in the Republic. Victoria pennies with the young head (pre 1887) were rare enough but the old head (1887+) pennies were still fairly common.

    Photography tip: don't photograph a dark item against a white background, the subject will always be under-exposed, unless it fills most of the frame which the coins don't do in your photos. Stand the coins against a dark background, get someone to stand behind and to one side of the photographer holding a white board or even a bedsheet to reflect light on to the subject. With a darker background, the exposure time will be longer so a tripod would be useful or set the ISO to a high value like 800 or 1600.
