    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone could tell me if an unplugged air flow meter on a '00 Ford Focus 1.4 could affect the idle CO2 emissions and thus fail the NCT?

I have unpluged one of the air flow meters as its not working and makes the car "chug" like crazy when plugged in. I hope this makes sense to someone :o

It read and failed at 1.02% above .50% is a fail.

There's good chance it's the MAF but unless you're confident I'd suggest bringing it to a garage. Swapping parts at random is expensive.

A spurious maf for your car cost's about €90 and they're normally fairly easy to change ( about 10 minutes with a screwdriver). If you're anyway handy at all you should seriously consider giving this job a go yourself.

screwdriver+electric contact cleaner. Spray the cleaner gently and leave it works for a while. Put the maf back and u'll see if u need new maf or not. Dont waste the money if u dont need to!! Try to clean it first.
