Regret to inform you that the much-touted hotspot feature is not present on new European iPads and won't appear until carriers update their settings and push them to the device.

Well, this is not specific to any one carrier. It's practically Europe-wide. The only carrier I know of so far that has enabled it is French MVNO Free, but not its parent net Orange France.

Well, I can tell you I'm not suffering from excessive overheating. Nor is it taking a long time to charge the battery.

Me neither, am also really impressed with battery life. I have had problems with iPad crashing both while using apps and also Safari. Overall, though am loving how fast it is on 3G

I jinxed myself - iPad keeps losing connection, have to keep switching off then back on again, it is so frustrating. Haven't been able to try it out on broadband yet. Anyone else having this problem?

I have the personal hotspot working on new iPad. I have the 64GB Wifi/4G model and am with meteor broadband. I'm almost certain the option was wasn't there when I first tried but rang apple support and explained what the issue was. Girl on phone said to wait a minute, came back and asked me to go into >Settings>General>Network and BINGO, personal hotspot option was there. turned it on and am now using it with laptop to type this .... the personal hotspot option now appears in settings menu between the 'Wifi' and 'Notifications' option.
