Gardaí are investigating a violent altercation at an national school in Ennis during which a number of weapons were produced.
This incident unfolded shortly before 2 o'clock this afternoon outside the Holy Family Junior School on Station Road in Ennis.
A man - understood to a waiting parent -was sitting in his car when a woman travelling in a vehicle in the opposite direction, stopped and began shouting abuse at him
She then moved off, having held up traffic and a second vehicle then pulled up and several individuals armed with a number of weapons, including a machete, approached the man who then fled from his SUV and into the school grounds -
They gave chase but he eventually managed to escape - In the meantime - a number of other people, proceeded to smash the windows on the man's vehicle which was parked outside on Station Road.
No arrests have been made at this stage but gardaí are speaking to a number of witnesses and are appealing to anyone else who may have witnessed the violent altercation to contact them.
