    Hi

I work in a bookies but am thinking of setting up a betting advice website. Nothing that fancy early on, just give a few predictions on who i think will win a few GAA matches and what bookies are giving the best odds on those predictions.

Just have a legal query really. Is there any legal remifications on me setting up such a site with the fact that I am currently employed by a betting firm ? Could i be done for what people procieve as insider trading etc?

    Appreciate any advice

You'd probably have to ask your employer for permission.
Not sure how that would work if they were worst price on your selections?
Doubt if it could be insider trading unless you got info while working for the firm and used that.

Probably better off posting here, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=633

I don't think so tbh, unless there was something put in your contract that you might be breaching which could be grounds for dismissal. From a legal point of view though, I don't think so.

    Insider trading on horse/sports betting?

Think about that for a second and you will have your answer.

You've no worries there - plenty of people involved in the betting industry set up websites and tipping sites.

If you are worried about the job, just set it up anonymously.

You've no real concerns about 'inside info'. All the big bookies/exchanges have blogs with tipsters etc nowadays.

John in your shop telling you that he heard word from a stable boy that a certain horse should win is not inside info especially when pat tells you the same thing about a different horse in the same race. The longer you work in the bookies the more skeptical you become.
