Second Owner Warranty Issues

    Greetings Lads!
Got my e46 320d SE 2005 last November . However, I have done almost everything to keep the car at its superb condition like preventive maintenance(swirl flap removal, tensioners changed, belts were changed as well).
To cut the long story short, about a week ago my mechanic found out that my crankshaft pulley has gone bad and needed immediate fix(loud high pitch pulley noise accompanied by dsc light and yellow handbrake light at one occasion). I had it fix to the tune of 250 euro including an hour labor. The issues regarding my complains were instantaneously solved.
Later as I investigate, I found out that the previous owner had the same crankshaft pulley replaced to another BMW specialist in Cork. That was done less than 13,000 miles or last May2011.IMO strange to be gone that soon.
Had another specialist consulted prior to the fix and same diagnosis: Bad CS pulley.
In my knowledge, I know parts sourced by BMW specialist usually has a year warranty. Now, my dilemma is that can I claim for a warranty? Do I have a right to claim for warranty even though I'm the second owner of the car?

My stand is that I don't care if I'm entitled for a warranty as long as I
can say it to them(garage) that ,what they have installed into the car were
cheap low quality pulley. I'm doing this so they will be cautioned in ordering cheap parts thus avoiding other bimmermen to be victimized as a result. Please give me your thoughts so I will know were to stand. Your comments is
    much appreciated. Thanks
