Yellow Light of Death

The unthinkable has happened to my PS3. Annoyingly, I had to restore it to factory settings because of a hard disk problem only a few weeks ago and while I was playing Skyrim the other day, it turned off and I got the dreaded yellow light of death followed by a blinking red light.

I've read various reports online of what the issue could be and how I should solve it. Am I best just bringing it to a 3rd party to get it fixed and see if I can get another while out of it? The warranty is gone at this stage.

Kills me not be able to play Skyrim :(

Get it reballed. Should solve the issue. Don't go for a reflow service unless you plan on buying a new ps3 and want to keep all your HD info. Reflow is very short term, while reball should last a good year at least. My mate has one going for 3 years after he got his reballed.

I rang a place today, they said that they'd replace the motherboard. Is this the right way to go?
