Unfair Dismissal

    Hi,
I recently won an unfair dismissal case .The employer did not follow disciplinary procedure at all.
I was shocked to see my an article about this in the local paper .This took up half a page and a detailed account of what happened.I was shown to be at fault and the only reason I won the case is that there was no disciplinary procedure.
My name and a photograph of someone asleep was also shown.
I am trying to get a job such methods in a local area can only hinder my prospects in finding another job.
What action can I take against this newspaper ?
    Any help appreciated.
    Atkin.

You can take a defamation action against the newspaper. You will need a solicitor.

There may or may not be a defamation action against the newspaper. Accurate reports of proceedings are privileged. A defamation action against the newspaper may also result in even more publicity.

I doubt it. The op has said he won because disciplinary procedures weren't followed, not because he didn't do anything wrong. OP, you should consult a solicitor .

OP you are the victim of these people who are so-called journalists. These folk often trade on others misery - in this case you. I ask the following questions knowing the answers to be 'No'.

Did they ask you for your views?
Did they get the facts right?
Did they get the photograph right?
Did they get the right slant on the story?

These so-called journalists decide on the line they are taking and then get the facts to fit that preconception. In your case this could be a million miles from the truth - but that doesn't stop these so-called journalists.
