I've only recently gotten back into PC gaming and picked up Empire total war. I also have Medieval 2, World in conflict and both Company of heroes games.
I'm curious about the mods i've been hearing about. Could someone explain a little about them please. (Please explantions for a four year old as I'm really not at all tech savvy)

    A few Questions.

Where do i get the mods? ( I assume i download them)

    Is there a cost involved?

    Thanks.

Mods are changes made to a game, generally by its community. For example, a team of people got Medieval 2 and turned it into a Lord of the Rings game by editing files and adding their own content. You can find and download mods easily enough, and many are as simple as installing or unzipping some files, its all fairly straight forward.

Mod DB has a huge amount of free mods available for almost every game.

The Total War Center is a giant community of total war players, and mods for every total war game are easily found on the forums. When looking for total war mods, I would recommend going here rather than Mod DB, as mod developers for the Total War series generally update and post about them on this site rather than Moddb.

Mods are entirely free and can add a lot of enjoyment and lifespan to a game.

Thanks for that. I take it it's generally safe to download mods from these sites?

These are completely safe sites, nothing to worry about when downloading from them.
