Just took a drive around the airport and noticed there's a fleet of Indian airline Kingfisher a320's parked on the old runway in between a fleet of Spanair aircraft. How long have they been parked there and why seeing as they're Indian aircraft?

I looked them up and saw they're in financial difficulty, but why were the aircraft sent here to Dublin?

Could be leased from an Irish company.

They are aircraft that are being returned to the Lessor as the lease on them is up.
There is also one in Shannon

Kingfisher are still flying at the moment so I doubt the fact they are in difficulty has any bearing on them being here

It is exactly why they are there. Kingfisher's financial difficulties have led to them been unable afford to renew the leases and have sent them back to the Leasers

As of late Feb only 22 out of a total fleet of 64 were in operation.

Their accounts have been frozen and they have serious cashflow problems. Thus they have returned several leased aircraft as they cannot afford the repayments. The first 2 to arrive have already been changed to new (Austrian) reg's.

I stand corrected,i was under the impression that the lease was up on some of these aircraft anyway as these were returned before their accounts were frozen (I believe things have gone from bad to worse for them in India in the last 48 hours)....anyway:o

I believe they've been there since 28th or 29th of February
I dont think I saw them the day before that :o

I remember being on their LHR - BLR route in 2009 (A330-200?) and it was the emptiest plane I had been on, but a good flight nevertheless

What sort of DAA charges would these A 320's be clocking up on a daily basis ?
Must add up to a fair few quid ?

this leasing company, must be in big big trouble with all the malev, spanair and now these planes not being used.

any idea who they are and if they are in big trouble? Their was an article that the DAA have already gained millions in storage charges in the past year, but id like to know who is going to actually pay it.

that leasing company must be really struggling now or maybe its more than one.

Zero parking if they are in for maintenance. Will be charged by MTOW when it departs

    Maximum Take Off Weight.
But they are only exempt from parking fees when in the hangars.

ILFC own the Span Air and Malev. According to wikepedia
"It is the world's largest aircraft lessor by value, though ILFC's rival, General Electric's GECAS unit, has more aircraft."
So I think they might be ok financially as they have many bigger customers.

Aer Cap ltd own the Kingfishers
