Sourcing Egg-Free MMR vaccine

I've been trying to get hold of an egg free MMR vaccine for a few weeks. Daughter has an egg allergy, and so cannot get the standard one. HSE does not supply the egg free one.

I will buy it myself if needs be, but my GP tells me they have to be bought in batches, I only need one. The recommendation from GP was to go into the hospital, get the vaccine containing egg, and be monitored for the day. But to be honest, I really don't want to inject my child deliberately with something I know she is allergic to.

Also, I don't know enough about how the immune system works. If she has an allergic reaction to the injection itself, will she still create the antibodies for MMR? (ie, will the vaccine work properly?)

Same recommendation from the public health nurse.

It's a common enough allergy, so was wondering if anyone knew some GP that stocked them. I'm based in Cork, but will travel for this.

Don't have any info on where to get it, but here's some info; from page 7 of http://www.immunisation.ie/en/Downloads/PDFFile_16363_en.pdf
Children with egg allergy should have MMR vaccine. Recent data suggests that anaphylaxis to MMR vaccine is not associated with hypersensitivity to egg antigens but to other components of the vaccine. As egg allergy is not a contraindication to MMR vaccination, egg free MMR is not recommended by the National Immunisation Guidelines

Try asking a pharmacy to source one which you could then bring to g.p/nurse to administer?
I've done this before with something else!

I'll think you'll get little joy here.
There is no licenced egg free MMR available in Ireland so you'll have to source and import an unlicenced version.
The advice from the vaccination section of the HSE and Temple steet (They have their advice out to GP's) is to go ahead and get the regulat version but under close supervision.
I understand your reluctance to do so but getting the vaccine as it is under close monitoring (as advised by your GP or HSE approved centre) is your best option.
Keep us posted, would be interested to hear what you decide.
