OEM wheels with multiple PCD hole arrangement?

Rang an ad for secondhand alloy wheels on DoneDeal and asked about the pitch circle diameter. Guy said it had two sets of holes - to match different PCD's. Would OEM wheels have different sets of holes or does this indicate aftermarket items?

    Ta.

Double drilled is one of the easiest ways to spot a replica - are the VAg wheels?

Indeed they is. What are the pitfalls with repllicas - is it just variable (and hard to establish) quality?

    What size are the?

Replicas are generally very soft and tend to be heavier than OEM wheels,i had them on an old car once and would never have them again.

Best to stick to OEM's it would appear. Thanks.

OEM or an OE brand without a doubt, for that kind of money you should get a set of OEM 17"'s

Just for the train spotters the are a replica of audi nuvolari wheels :D

What's the difference between OEM and OE? (am I right in assuming the one is the manufacturer of the wheels but not VAG itself. And the other is VAG)

Are 18" more expensive or something?

And by "that kind of money" do you mean something nice like..
    audi nuvolari wheels

...or the dull-as-ditchwater genuine Audi wheels I have at the moment?

    Thanks for the insight..

OEM would be wheels that came on the car or another VAg car from the factory with VAg cars these tend to be made by a few companies only e.g Ronal,BBS,O.Z etc

OE would be wheels made by the likes of BBS or Ronal that fit your car but weren't made specifically for your car or weren't offered as a factory option, but were made as after market products.

For that kind of money i;e 300e you haven't a hope of getting original nuvolaris as the are pretty rare.

What car are the wheels for ? is it a 5x100 or 5x112 car?

18's tend to be more expensive yes for a good genuine set of second hand 18" rims you would be looking at anywhere 600/700 euro upwards and that wouldn't necessarily even include tyres or good ones

    Gotcha..

Some kind of similar slender multi-spoke option would be fine. Is there a hope of that?

Otherwise I might have to live with soft and heavy :)

It's an Audi A4 1.8T - 2003 vintage. I think the PCD is 5 x 112 (I only asked the guy whether the PCD would suit the A4)

That's that out of the way as an option so.

    Another question springs to mind:

What would I expect to get for the one's I'm taking off. Original Audi 16" in tip-top condition with new Bridgestone tyres (that cost 100 quid each apparently). And is there much of a market for them. Their like this:

You could probably get 100/150e for your own, someone might be looking for a second set for winter tyres.

How about 17" A4 sport alloys like these?

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/carextras/3127657

The are a bit over priced in my book but loads of sets come up for sale as lads upgrade to big shiney (soft and heavy) reps :D

I have them on my own A4 (in a different colour) and i think the are the probably the nicest OEM B6 A4 wheel outside of the S4 wheels.

The existing wheels are too 'oul fella' for my tastes. Unfortunately, I'm an oul fella and can't quite see myself making the leap to what are a young mans wheels.

The slender multispoke option strikes me as the best middle ground.

Rule of thumb: if a cat can jump through the spokes then I'd best leave them be else I'm going to be looking too much like a middle-age-crisis merchant.

    :)

You have me questioning my wheels now,i'm borderline middle-aged and do drive an Audi so i'm wondering....... :D

But then i relaised my cat is a fat bastard and wouldn't jump to save its life and i don't really care what others think :D:D
