    Hi guys & gals,

Need some help. I am getting married this Saturday and I am still writing my speech. The problem I have is i dont know whether to type it in bullet point format or write it all out. The 2nd problem I have is the order to say everything in. I know the bride goes last but with the list of people to thank:

    Guests for travelling
    Brides parents
    My parents
    Hotel
    Priest
    Groomsman
    Bestman
    Bridesmaid
    Bride

    Who gets thanked when?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    CBTC

Genuinely I dont think it really matters

As long as you manage to remember to thank everyone you have just mentioned and tell all the right people they look beautifully you'll be home and hosed

Interesting question, one I never had to deal with, because I got married in a five-minute civil ceremony.

However, I recall reading a few years ago about a lady in Dublin - a former journalist - who had started an online business writing speeches for grooms, best men, and so on at weddings and similar events.

People only needed to send her a bullet list like the one in your OP, tell her if they had any special wishes and she did the rest. The completed speech was sent back to the client by email. Her market had become global and she had expanded into Bar Mitzvahs, confirmations and so on.

There was no mention of what she charged, but it was obvious that she was making a good living out of it.

Have a bit of a search here:

    http://www.google.fi/#hl=fi&sugexp=frgbld&gs_nf=1&pq=online%20speech%20writer&cp=34&gs_id=8a&xhr=t&q=%2B+%22online+speech+writer%22+%2B+ireland&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&oq=%2B+%22online+speech+writer%22+%2B+ireland&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=e55c9eaba03bcd7a&biw=956&bih=497

    Good luck with the wedding.

I'm getting married on Saturday too :D

I don't think the order matters a whole lot. Maybe bullet points would be better and try to keep it natural. Just expand on the point if there is something particularly important you want to say.

I don't think my OH has even looked at his speech yet (except his opening joke which I have been hearing for about the last 5 years!!)

First, I would just like to thank you all for being here today, especially Shivers <insert laughs here>

Do you have time and means to do both written form and bullet point?
I think either depends on your style of public speaking. If you're comfortable and just want a few notes to remind you of what to say next or what not to forget, then bulletpoints, or even cheat cards, are the best.
If you think you'll be too nervous to even string a sentence together (this is true of some people), then write out what you want to say, but remember, if you lose your place in your speech, it'll be harder to find again in an essay-style speech!

The list of people you're thanking sounds about right... oh, and don't say you're amazed that the bride looks fantastic LOL happened at one wedding I was at (although went down ok with some giggling from the guests)
