Am I the only person that gets annoyed by this? It seems like someone just posts the most innane drivel that comes to mind and plants "discuss" at the end.
Don't tell me to discuss your crap! Anyone?

    Discus.

Eh I'm no Canadian eh. Now let's get on aboot the topic. Apologies to any canadian for the worst typed canadian accent probably ever seen.
At least I'm not alone with this, woo!
It only seems to come with vapid threads and usually the poster has so little to say on their own topic that all they can do is ask others to actually come up with input after they manage to think of a title.
And the conjured image of a smug arse OP leaning back to watch the plebs scurry to chat about their geniusly birthed concept of discussion... plastic bags or paper bags? Discuss.

    As the topic says.

Why write "discuss" at the end of the opening post in a new thread?

Do these posters think we need to be told to discuss the post?

Do they think that without "discuss" at the end of the post that people will not know what to do?

    WTF

I'm more interested in why posters post 'WTF' at the end of their posts. We already know from the rest of their post that they're baffled.

Do these posters think we need to be told that they're baffled?

It's because they're lazy, trolling, or both, so usually post some inflammatory article and put 'discuss' at the end without actually offering any opinion of their own.

I would like to include in that group people who finish with 'thoughts?'

Im not a fan of seeing "Discuss". To me, it's what happens when someone coming up with, what they believe, is an interesting thought and then throwing it to the peasants to argue the merits for or against, while they sit back Caesarlike and nod approvingly or otherwise, enjoying the fact they've created the frenzy. I like seeing opening posts that end in "Discuss" with zero or sarcastic replies at the poster :-)

I remember seeing it in History questions in the Leaving Cert. If I had discussed I would have been kicked out, in disgust.
