    Hi All,

Recently became unemployed, and went to the local SW office. I was living abroad in 2008,2009 and part of 2010...so i don't think i'll qualify for JSB.

I filled in a UP1 form and another form which i think is an application for a means test and gave supporting documentation re mortgage, loans, bank statements, and partners payslips.

My partner is working a 30 hour week- 5 hrs a day, 6 days and gets €300 gross, €291 nett per week...i don't think he's entitled to anything as he is working 6 days.

I was told i'd receive a letter in about 4 weeks time with their decision, i know the chance of getting JSB is slim, so my question is..will they automatically consider me for JSA, or will i have to apply for JSA seperately and go through another long waiting period?...things are tight and having to wait 4 weeks approx is a joke let alone another waiting period after that.

Also just wondering does anyone actually know how much i'll be entitled to?..we''ve no children..unless they count our dog!!!:-)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

By the sound of what you filled in (up1 and means test forms)you have applied for JSA.

Did you live in another eu country while abroad? If you did, any social insurance you paid will count toward an entitlement to jb here.

As regards ja, if you do not qualify for jb you will automatically be considered for ja. I can't be specific, but your partners earnings are at the low end of the scale, so while they are assessed against you, they won't be too hefty. You may actually be entitled to more than the 188 as you will be claiming the family rate minus means from your spouses' employment

On jsa you should receive €168.80 approx. I have used the €300 gross figure.
As already said if you were working in another EU country for 2008/2009/2010 and paid A class contribution on your return to Ireland you can get your contributions from abroad transferred. Depending on what your average weekly earnings are in 2010 you may be entitled to the full rate of €188 on jsb.
