I've decided to post this in the general forum as the great big lawnmower thread doesn't seem to get much traffic...

I'm currently looking at buying a new push mower for about a half acre site. Up until last year I'd used a ride-on on it but we've now moved the ride on to another property with a bigger site. I don't think the size of the garden warrants getting a second ride-on. I currently have a ****y push mower that I want to upgrade.

I waNt to buy something decent, hence why I'm looking for advice here...

    I'm looking for the following:

    Self-drive,
A mulch function would be nice,
Push/key start would be nice but not essential,
    A decent size bag,
Be able to handle reasonably wet grass without clogging,
    A decent engine/motor.

I suppose my budget would be anything up to €1,000.

Are Honda generally recognised as being the best push mowers available??

Yes Honda have a great reputation for building strong well made walk behind lawnmowers. For 1000 euro you should get a fine machine.

The Honda HRX537 seems to be the popular choice that people go for.

Also consider a Kaaz lawnmower with an industrial GX Honda engine. They are a very solid lawnmower. They come in under various names, Kaaz, Asuka, Lawnflite and Sarp.

Is the ez mower made by Kaaz? Also does it have the fan under the deck?

    Hello
As far as inknow Kaaz only make decks for lawnmowers and the deck on an ezmow pro is the same heavy duty alloy deck, the one i saw had a disc which acted as a fan with 4 small blades, it was demonstrated on foot long wet grass and it collected it with easy.

Looking at pictures of the ez mow lawnmower I would guess it isn't made by Kaaz. I have seen the Kaaz mower under various names such as sarp, lawnflite and asuka - all identical except for badge and all with the Kaaz Corporation made in Japan sticker near the collector bag.

You are probably right, the deck might be identical and the gear box and engine but it might not be manufactured by Kaaz. It would be hard to see how it could be such a good price compared with other machines from the same factory, all which seem to be 500 to 600 euros more expensive for the branded deck. There was a wash port on it which I don't recall on lawnflights. The controls, engine and gear box were all Honda identical but I didn't see any Kaaz branding. I had a lawn flight one 2 years ago which was top notch, and it looked identical, and I had paid nearly 1500 euros for it. I also saw a green technology one which looked the same. Either way it's a great spec mower and I don't think you'll find as good spec or build quality for anywhere near as good a price. I checked the Internet all I could find was a cheesy you tube clip.
