WE 14 Problems

I bought a brand new WE M14 from an Irish retailer a few weeks ago. They imported it and downgraded to sub 1 Joule. I'm not sure what they exactly did to downgrade it however. It doesn't look like they installed an NPAS. I got 4 brand new WE M14 mags to go with.

I have tried to plink in the back garden prior to christening it skirmishing. Unfortunately I am unable to get more than 6 or so BBs through each mag before it runs out of gas. There is no venting whilst shooting. I've tried disassembling and reassembling, tightening the screws around the mags but still no joy.

    Any ideas?

Are all the mags acting up? Try a pressure test on each one.
Fill up the mags with a good blast of gas, then submerge them in lukewarm water to see if you have leaKs

Strange as to how they downgraded it without a NPAS? In theory they could have installed low flow valves on the mags meaning less gas is fed into the system in each shot resulting in lower fps. Customs would only test with the mags that came with the gun but the gun itself would run hot then using regular valves on standard mags.

Another way they could have done it would be by adding a release (by drilling some part of the gas feed system) to bleed off gas before it got to the bb feed but that would be pretty complicated and very inconsistent / inprecise. Low tech and cost effective but same as drilling the piston on an AEG - (insert argument here) - .

Is there any retailer near you that you could perhaps test fire a fresh factory mag with your gun? That'd at least rule out the mags or the gun itself.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I've examined the mags by submerging them in water but no bubbles whatsoever. They are all brand new unused mags.

I have spoken to the retailer they are adamant that it is the cold weather. However even indoors at 20 degrees no joy so that suggestion is out.

The fact that the there is no venting and only a few shots are in each mag per fill I'm guessing that there is too much gas leaking per shot prior to the gas reaching the bb and the barrel.

I've bought an NPAS and some RA Tech parts so once they arrive I'll stick them on and have another go.

That said I'm not sure how skirmishable this beast is. With bipod and scope its gotta weigh the guts of 7kgs!

Are you filling the mags upside down with gas? Don't go f*cking around with the gun, it was expensive and you are covered by warranty until you mess with it yourself. Bring it to the shop and get them to test it there with you and see if it works.

Nah the weather couldnt reduce the gas capacity that much, the weather is mild this year. I dont know much bout we's m14 but if it works some way similar to other gbbr (in principle) it could be the valve knocker which releases the gas from the mag each time you fire. You have ruled out the mags, the npas cant be the issue because the valve just controls the amount of pressure to fire the bb, the exact same amount of gas will exit the mag regardless of what valve be it npas or fixed fps, but like the fella above me said its under warranty so dont even attemp to dismantle it.
