    Hi All,

I have not posted in a long time. While hill walking over the weekend I was discussing with a few of group of us hill-walkers and were left wondering why Enda Kenny was not at the Whitehouse on St. Patrick's Day. We all assumed after watching the news that over many years that the Taoiseach would be invited to the Whitehouse on St. Patrick's Day. I remember George Bush was not inclined to invite Bertie/Cowen. Others and myself can't remember the last time the Taoiseach of the time would not be able to attend on Paddy's Day. Taking into account the group's age is from late 30's to early 50's someone should have remembered the last time it happened. So does anybody have any thoughts on the matter? The media have been very silent on the matter. I don't want to start some conspiracy or an argument but one is left wondering "WHY NO INVITE OR ATTENDANCE".

He is at the White House tomorrow OP meeting Obama. It is delayed because St Patrick's Day fell on a Saturday this year. There is also a White House function tomorrow night.

Was thinking the same myself.Obama was in a pub in DC with his cousins from Moneygall and Enda was in Chicago on Paddys day.

Heard this evening that Enda will be meeting Obama this week.

Maybe Obama was puking with all the shamrock and cringeworthy speeches last year.

Theres no need for him to be there, when he can be off restoring Irelands reputation. Here he is ringing the New York stock exchange bell, in the company of Irish citizen in good standing Denis O'Brien

I'm really surprised he didn't spend Paddy's day on Angela's lap.

Oh great, a thread criticising our politicians for not being on a junket, an interesting counter-balance to those who oppose all junkets.

Its been widely reported before, during and now after his visit to the states that congress wasn't sitting on Paddys Day so the visit had to be held today (Tuesday) which it did. :)
