    Hi folks,

Lakeshore Striders are running The Lakes 10K in Blessington on the 8th of September.

For the past 3 years we have supported the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland raising almost €55,000, so a big thank you to everyone who has supported this event in the past.

This year and for the next 3 years our chosen charity will be the Lauralynn House, part of the Children's Sunshine Home.

Entries open early this year, €25 with tech tee, €18 without t-shirt. €90 for team entry with tee, €75 for team entry no t-shirt.

Super race. Did a PB here 2 years ago and looking forward to racing it again. One of the best organised races on the calendar IMO.

This race is coming up in a couple of weeks. Ran it last year, and thought it was a cracking race. Anyone else doing it this year? They seem to be down to their last 100 entries.

Good man Krusty, although we haven't buldozed the hill that you loved so much last year. It is downhill (ish) to the finish once at the top ;)

Top 5 finish for you this year?

I just signed up for the Lakes 10k. Haven't done it before so looking forward to it.

Anybody on here have anything to do with organising?

    - I registered online today- is that enough time to get number etc posted out to me (Dublin) or willl it be a collect on the day type thing?
    - Any chance of getting my hands on a t-shirt on the day or are they all sold out at this stage? Surely there were 600 made !?

    Cheers,
    JK

Shame about the hill. Will the ice-cream van be back? :)

I dunno about that. Sure 'tis older I'm getting. Could you ask some of the faster lads to stay home (or as has been done in a number of other races recently) send them down the wrong way?

    Hi JK,

You can pick up race number on Thursday evening before the race in Amphibian King (Base2Race) or on the morning of the race at the start line.

Only enough t-shirts for those that chose the option when registering, that's why there was 2 price categories.

Shame about the hill. Will the ice-cream van be back? :)

Ice cream van is back alright.

The hill will catch people out for sure, but surely the view from the top, across the lakes and back to finish is worth it :D

Well I don't think Vinny Mulvey is back and the chap who finished in front of you is not back either, so straight away your up to a theoretical 6th. Now if you just stay away from the ice cream van till the end you might sneak up a spot or two ;)

It is a damn near perfect race, and one I cannot find any fault in. A template for other charity races. The price is right, marshalling is excellent, volunteers are brilliant, parking is perfect, a very fair course, massages afterwards, a goody bag of suitable junk food, a muffin, and an ice-cream... with a flake!

Just a shame you couldn't get the faster lads to stay home. Despite taking nearly 90 seconds off of my race time from last year, I finished in exactly the same position (8th) in 34:51. Very happy with my new PB though. Results are here. Not sure what the first column represents though.

    Great running man

Super race. Well done to all involved. Will be back next year (if only for another lemon muffin, nom nom nom).

Did this race twice, sadly not today as many hrs in the saddle had to be done . Glad to hear the muffins are still a huge attract. :)
Well done KC on breaking the sub 35

Yep, great race, hard to fault. Found the sun heavy going today when shelter from it not an option.

Best 10k I've run. Loved the free ice cream and muffins. Tshirt was one of the nicest I've got at a race. Course was lovely. AND I finally broke the 50min barrier!

Will definitely be back next year :)

Fantastic race, brilliant location, great music and atmosphere, free ice cream fruit, muffins, chocolate, sweets and to top it all off the weather was fantastic. Also a place to shower afterwards in the boat house.

I especially liked the kids dressed as Kings at the top of the hill beside a sign "King of the Hill" and the good location for the water station.

The start was subdivided into expected finishing times.
I started from the sub 45 min area and was delighted to finish under 40 mins.

The Kilkenny 10k was due to be my first 10k and as it was cancelled I registered for this instead as my first 10k and I am glad I did. I think I have caught the bug and will be taking part in many more races in the future and definitely this one next year.

Fantastic race - if only other races around the country were so well organised!! Beautiful venue, great treats & lots of happy smiling faces - well done to all the Lakeshore Striders for an amazing day:D. Btw - Hill not half as bad as expected, was dreading it but in reality it's actually quite short! Will defo be back next year!

+1 on all the positive comments on this race. Really well organised. Should be a template for all.

Didn't quite do the race in the time I wanted but that was down to me. Hill at 6k is tough enough depending on your frame of mind at the time. See you next year if I'm fit and healthy.
