well what films are you really really looking forward to this year but you think can in absoulutely no way match the hype youve built up in your head,

the first film i have very high hopes for is The Hunger Games which is out later in the week, i read all 3 books last year and thought they were great, i know they say their aimed at little girls and whatnot, but i did thoroughly enjoy reading them, but damn it of i havent overhyped this film in my mind, i cant possibly see a way that this film can live up to my expectations,

i also have extremely high hopes for The Dark Knight Rises and The Hobbit, i just cant see how their gonna live with my expectation for them,

well boardsies what film are you currently puting a lot of expectation on this year,

I have high expectations for The Dark Knight Rises too :)
But its Christopher Nolan directing it. The guy has a track record for making great movies in my opinion. Besides if theres anyone who can make a worthy sequel to The Dark Knight, its the guy who directed The Dark Knight :pac:

But Total Recall ... I honestly don't know what to expect.
Because its not set on Mars. The setting, besides for allowing great visual backgrounds, also played heavily into the plot. But if changing it is because Hollywood doesnt want to copy the original down to the T ... thats cool.
But are they changing things or giving it a lick of paint? Aka, are Euromerica or New shanghai practually being Mars and what Quaid did on them in the original?
Give the people air? or water this time ... or freedom etc. same thing like.

Also TDKR. Nolan with surprise great film Batman Begins, then knocked it out of the park with TDK. I don't feel lucky enough to have as awesome a movie again and therefore make one epic trilogy. This could be my generations Star Wars(episodes 4-6). Call me cynical, but I dont feel it.

Also, the Avengers. I cant see how they can put that many personalities on screen together. Luckily Captain America doesnt really have a personality, but even then there is a lot to work with, and thats before you add some bad guys and a plot. Im expecting an Expendables in spandex.

Only one that wears anything like Spandex is Cap....:/ but ah yeah Prometheus is the one thats gonna miss the mark for me this year hope not though I only say this because all the recent Alien or Predator efforts have been terrible

I really hope Prometheus isn't sh1t. Ridley Scott is directing and a there's a solid cast though, I'm very cautiously optimistic and trying not to watch the trailer. :o

Hoping 'On The Road' is as good as the book

hoping that TDKR wont, the more I see of it the more I'm not sure what to make of it, Nolan has yet to make a bad film though

Amazing Spider-Man for me. I am a big fan of the character but from what I have seen of this movie it is rehashing stuff from the Rami trilogy and trying to add a Twilight element to the whole thing. Plus it features one of Spidey's weakest villains.

the Raimi movies werent pefect though, far from it, the first movie has its moments and the second one is by and large superb except for the wedding scene and the whole losing his powers for no reason plotline, the third one is mostly awful though.

I'm trying to avoid alot of discussion on it tbh. When you say rehashing a lot of Raimis stuff, do you mean reteling the start? I suppose they have to do that other wise its not a reboot.

And Black Widow. I was exagerating, but I think the point is made.

Oh don't get me wrong, I've seen both the trailers, I'm just trying not to watch them over and over again and say did I just see a
Space Jockey or something that resembles a Xenomorph

I was going to say Amazing Spider-man, but my hopes aren't all that high for it really. although the second trailer made it look really good, but I remember the same thing happening with Green Lantern so since my hopes aren't that high for it I can't really say it will dissappoint.

I'm going to say either TDKR or Prometheus will probably dissappoint the most because they are so ridiculously hyped up in my head at this point that they couldn't possibly live up to my expectations, hopefully Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan are reading this and will do everything in their power to prove me wrong. I also have a feeling the The Avengers will be better than anyone expects to be (hopefully won't be wrong on that one, but I said that about Green Lantern too :D)

I'm avoiding all trailers and stories to do with Prometheus, Batman, the hobbit, WWZ (though I've read the book) and Avengers. So I don't think they can let me down as I'm goin in as blind as possible in this world of over-information!
But Cabin in the Woods which I have been waiting for since its announcement might drop me from a height! It is super fresh on RT but who knows... Please please just dont hurt me!

Very much this.... And I can only blame myself for the unreasonably high expectations I've now attached to both films.

In fact, think I've just decided that it'd be for the best if I stopped reading threads/looking at trailers etc for both these movies :(

    Probably SKYFALL. :(

After Daniel Craig's last two w*nk fests
this one can only be worse...

    :o

    RIP 007.

I thought Casino Royale was excellent
    QOS, however. Not so much.

I wouldn't say the franchise is dead at all. Roll on Skyfall.

I'm the opposite. I thought QOS was OK but nothing more.

Word has it they're bringing back Blofeld?

for me its most likely spiderman. its just too soon for a reboot.

avengers and tdkr im hoping are going to be the best two films of the year. ive hyped them up so much in my head and hope they live up to it. will be hugely disappointed if either sucks.

Cloud Atlas - Just because it's one of my all time favourites and I don't trust the Wachoswkis to do it justice after some of their more recent disasters. I've also been hearing some dodgy things from set, and a lot of it is apparently CGI, which I'm always a bit sceptical about. Great cast though.

Life of Pi - Again, another book I love. I just don't know how a tiger, a boy and a boat is gonna work on screen for 2 hours. Ang Lee behind the wheel though, so I'll continue to hold out hope.

i think Prometheus will be disappointing due to the fact that its been done to death already, i know its linked to the alien franchise but it has the same basic plot of an alien science fiction horror film

i think tdkr and the hobbit will be the top films of the year

True, but Alien wasn't exactly original in 1979 either.

(If it even comes out this year then) 'The Master' will probably let me down. PTA can't keep up this incredible run of movies going, can he?

Like most people I'm dying to see Dark Knight Rises but 'The Master' is the one I'm really waiting for.
