    Hi,

I am looking to purchase a lamp and battery hand held set for lamping with a lurcher.

Can anyone recommed a set up and where is teh best place to buy in Ireland or on the internet?

Also has anyone made their own set up and if so would they have any advice, information or pictures.

Anyone use the litium batteries, how do you find them, where can I pick them up for a good price.

Also would be interested if anyone is selling their set up.

    Thanks

Lightforce lamp, worth the €€€. Only thing I would say to do with them is re solder the connections.
I have a Lit battery and they are a god send, you dont even realise you are carrying them

lightforce 170 lamp without a doubt.

Lith batteries are the way forward but are costly.

An ordinary motorbike battery in a backpack is a cheap option. the connections to go from positive/negative to a the female part of a cigarette lighter connection can be got in any motor factors for 10-15 euro.

These "lamping battery packs" you get in gun shops are this set up but just add on money to the price. make your own much cheaper. Backpack is handy too cos its not falling off your shoulder like other packs do getting under fences.

I have used the cluson clubman deluxe type for years - the hinged flip up filter is great when you're out single handed with the lurchers. Nowhere near the light of the lightforce

The season is over to be honest at this stage - cubs are fairly strong and in places out and about already - very early for around me but seen it myself.
Genuine callouts aside - you get a few cowboys still at it that don't know the meaning of the word 'sporting' but most everyone else has the work done during the winter - the cold and wet doesn't suit some.
If it's rabbits you're after then I can't get over how hard the ground has gotten in the last few weeks - you'll make **** of your lurcher running it on that. Also the cows are out - farmers are pissed off enough with the amount of hunting all season without putting up with it all summer too.
The long grass doesn't help things either.

I know you're only looking for a lamp and not saying you plan on using it straight away but just saying anyway ;)

    Thanks for the replies,

It seems like the lightforce is the one to go with, what kind of money would I expect to pay for one of these and where is the best place to buy them, off the internet?

What price are the motorbike batteries and what size voltage/amp one should I go with.

Can you get a seperate charger for them and if so how much would they cost.

There is no doubt that the lithium batteries would appear to be the ones to go with, but they are a bit on the expensive side, hopefully they will come down in price at some stage.

Thelurcher, like yourself my season is finished and I will not be doing anymore hunting until next season.

Hoping to pick up a lurcher over the next couple of weeks after not having one for a while and just looking for a bit of information and advice for when it is ready to run.

What type of lurchers do you keep?

    Thanks,

MacEoin in Dingle is usually the cheapest for lightforce lamps.I think the website is MacEoin.ie or something similar. If you are living around Cork as i guess by your name go to the Mocad golf shop on Tramore Rd,12v 22ah sealed batteries there are around 70 euro i think, they are brand new and if looked after will last years.

I find Murray reasonable enough for stuff, compared to other dealers around munster.
