I wouldn't imagine so, I've never heard such an offer.

Wouldn't it depend if the reserve was in the betting or not?
If it wasn't, then I'd imagine you would get paid but I'm sure the reserves are always quoted in the early prices.

I seen a shop in Ratoath that had a sign up saying reserves dont count but I think in PP they do.

Its stupid if they do reserves should just run for the prize money imo
and not even be priced up for betting.

on the attheraces site in gary o briens column he says most bookies offer this concession so i was hoping paddypower was "most bookies"!

surely they have to pay out as the reserve was not in the race when the bet was placed

    Rules from PP

    Reserves

    • Some races contain reserves, who may or may not be priced in our early prices lists. The finishing positions of any of these reserves will count whether they are priced or not.
    • The price of any reserves which run, will be offset against any Rule 4 deduction applicable from the non-runner(s).
    • If a reserve is priced in our Early Prices Lists and subsequently becomes a Non Runner there shall be no Rule 4 deduction as a result of the withdrawal. However if a reserve takes the place of a withdrawn horse and therefore becomes an official runner after the racecourse declaration stage (ie 45 minutes before the first race) then there will be a Rule 4 deduction applicable from that time onwards if it subsequently is withdrawn.

that is disgusting rule from pp when you place a bet in good faith after studying form then a reserve runs chins you on line that is far true what they say bookies always winners

I don't think it's too unfair. You know when you're placing a bet that there's a chance the reserve may run

It's the same in most places.

There's loads of them in Dundalk on a Friday night due to a max of 14 runners per race.

about 95% of reserves are no-hopers priced up at 33/1 odd.
you could probably count on one hand the number of reserves that win in a year.

compared to the greyhounds the amount of reserves that win on that is amazing. i know a bookie in cootehill that when u write bet for greyhounds you must put number of trap not name of dog if it gets past them that you wrote name of greyhound they cancel bet must be incase reserves run they want trap number

Ladbrokes offer this concession and some indo's. Bets has to be placed before the reserve gets into the race though.
