Eamon Dunphy is the most capped player in Millwall's history, obtaining
22 of his 23 Republic of Ireland caps whilst with The
Lions. He began his career at Manchester Utd in 1960,
at the tender age of 15, but never played in the Reds'
first team and in August 1965 was allowed to sign for
York City. Dunphy played 22 first-team games for York,
scoring three goals from his midfield position before
being transferred to Millwall in January 1966, for £8,000.
Although slightly built, his cheeky, impudent cleverness
made him a favourite with the supporters, although others criticised his
apparent dislike of 'getting stuck in'.

Yep, it's Dunphy alright. I was surprised to hear this myself.

I should add that in those days Ireland struggled to field 11 players. For people who witnessed Dunphy actually play he was considered one of the worst players ever to wear the jersey but he did get 23 caps.

Thats very much a case of hyperbole, he was no genius or anything but he certainly wasn't anywhere near the worst player to play for Ireland.
