Outdoor season is a few weeks away but who do you think can book there place on the Irish team that have not made the 'A' standard already ??
have you heard of some athletes going well in winter training ??

David Gillick would be the obvious choice along with the 4 x 400 womens relay.

what about Ciara Mageaan ?? Will she made the standard ???
Thomas Barr to improve times again or will he miss out ??
Mark English is being talked about one for the future ?? can he reach the standard for london ??

what's your view ?? do you have inside info on some athletes training ??

Joanne Cuddihy. Great early season form in Australia.

Colin Griffin is bound to make the 50km walk standard if he keeps fit, and of course providing he doesn't get DQ'd.
Joanne Cuddihy, the women's 4x400m relay and David Gillick are the other best bets.
Plenty of others though who could make it too, I'd say we'll have at least 22 athletes in London, could be upwards of that figure.

If the O.C.I. backtrack and allow athletes with the B-standard to go, then we can expect a fair few of the younger athletes to make it: Mark English (800m), Jessie Barr (400mH), Thomas Barr (400mH) would have a chance.
But it might be expecting too much too soon for them to get the A-standards this year. I think Ciara Mageean will get the time though.
Ben Reynolds in the 110m Hurdles might go close, it's hard to know. If he gets the B-standard, he will have a great chance to upgrade to the A-standard as the differnce between both times is not dramatic in that event.

Costin and Griffin fail to get the standard for the 50k Griffin getting DQ'ed in the last 10k for the second time in the last 6 months.

Boyce who already has the standarded lowered his PB

Hopefully the other two will recover quick enough to have another stab at the standard:

If English did get the time I woudnt be that shocked. But it will only happen as part of the process towards the World Juniors in Barcelona this summer. If I was looking at a young athlete who might spring it I would look at Kate Veale..
Regarding the walkers I am pretty sure they are planning one more stab at the time in the World Cup in Russia in late April I think.

Would be surprised if Kate Veale was doing 20k's this year. I'd imagine her focus would be the 10k distance for the world juniors.
