    Hey all

I'm just wondering what is the actual difference between the teeth numbers on the crankset...

    53/39 and 50/34...

Can you explain what each of these mean in terms of riding the bike?

    A 53 is 6% higher gearing than a 50 (53/50-1)
    A 39 is 14.9% higher gearing than a 34 (38/34-1)

To put it in perspective, a 17 on the back is 6.25% higher than a 18 and a 14 is 14.3% higher than a 16, so it's similar to comparing those gears on the cassette
