Scans of receipts

Not exactly an issue, more of a pondering.

I have a big file full of receipts for what feels like everything I've ever bought :) Some of them can be dumped (as I no longer own the items, or they're a million years out of any reasonable warranty).

I'm wondering if I could scan the receipts for older items, such as appliances, that are nearing the end of their reasonable life time? Obviously I *can*, but do you think a shop/manufacturer would accept a printed scan of a receipt if any repairs were necessary?

I'm thinking it would be a useful thing to do in general, as some receipts can fade over time, and having a record before they turn blank might help.

I don't see why not seen as we have email receipts which are valid. Proof of purchase is all that's required and a scanned receipt is such proof.

You should always scan/copy those type receipts anyway , because they fade and fade quickly too
