Do you have a mattress size and a budget/price limit in mind.

Thats the 1st 2 things you need to tell us,before anyone can advize you.

Yes I am moving into a new home and looking at buying 3 new beds, king size/5 foot?I was recommended ultra memory foam mattresses(Outlast?) and was quoted 475 euro per mattress, seems quite steep.I am seeking good quality mattresses that guarantee quality and longevity. In addition I am seeking mattresses that offer comfort/back support.I understand one can get spring based or foam based mattresses or a combo of 2.I plead total ignorance in this field!!!I currently have gleneagles bedding mattresses in my current home, they are perfectly satisfactory but I can't seem to source them on line or locally.Unaware of any stores that deal in mattresses locally.

    Hi,

    Firstly where are you based??

It is quite difficult to give advice on mattresses as everyones preferences are different; i.e soft, hard, firm, etc, you mentioned you wanted back care/support, well memory foam mattresses may be the best option for you!

When buying a mattress, initially you think that the prices are a bit steep, I know i certainly did. But if you think about it, you will spend 6-8 hours a night on this mattress for many years. So in my opinion it is crucial to invest in good quality mattresses that will last and will be comfortable for you! I have not regretted my investment, as I sleep soundly every night:) I got 2 mattresses from EZ Living Furniture in Castlebar, they recommended respa mattresses for my needs, so if you live close you could check them out!

A top tip I would give you, is go to a store, wear comfy loose clothes and simply jump on them and try them out! The shops don't mind you doing this, in this way you will figure out quickly which type is best for you and your needs!

Best of luck with your search! :)

We have a memory foam. Cost us €1000 about 6 years ago. It's very comfortable but it can get very hot in the summer.

A good way to check if the bed you are lying on is too soft, too hard, or just right is to lie on your back, placing your hand in the small of your back and then trying to move it about. If it moves too easily, the bed may be too hard for you; if it's a struggle to move your hand, then the bed is too soft. If you can move your hand with just a little resistance, the bed may be just right for you.

One more thing: Before selecting a mattress it is wise to check how noisy it is when you move in it and how difficult it is to change positions on it.
