I applied for a waitressing job and have been told that the hourly wage is €7.42. I checked the minimum wage at it states that it is €8.65 pr/hr. Is it illegal to offer €7.42 and what should I do

It depends on your age too, how old are you?

I'm well over 18 (30+)- been working for the past 10 years (not in hospitality)

There are (or were) JLC/REA rates of pay that cover the hospitality industry including waitressing. If you're classed as training they'll be able to pay less than minimum wage. I thought they had been ceased after court case last year but I'm not sure what effect it's had on the pay rates.
