LR 3 obviously isn't ready for the mk 3 as it doesn't recognise the raw files :(

Maybe Adobe don't have an Adobe Raw converter for it yet, but I think there is a beta out of the new camera raw.

Where did you pick up the mark 3.

I saw your thread over on potn. Helpful bunch aren't they... sounds like you have discovered a gotcha with it.

Let's us know your thoughts on the new camera. Curious to see high ISO gig shots

Paul: I had d/l that but it says when I go to install it...

"Some Updates failed to install" and "update is not applicable"
It's a pain cos I went to a gig last night and no way am I going to attempt 60+ pics with DPP.....it's horrid!

Solyad : I use flash 90% of the gigs I attend as the lighting is non existent and I got the Camera in Gunn's and yes that was my thread over at PotN.

The 3D had a wonderful wonderful grip to it, sits lovely in the hand, the reason why I wanted rid of the mk2 was it's AF, but there are so many variants of it on the 3 is I am not at the point yet of working it out 100% to what I want.....
I sold the mk 2 the same day by pure chance €1155 so I only owe the GF the balance....of what the mk 3 cost! :pac:

I doubt if LR3 will ever support it, you'll have to splash for the new version LR4, Adobe don't update non current versions to support RAWs from new models.

The free DNG convertor will probably work though, it's available at PaulW's link

Fair play to Gunns getting it in so quick, shame about the price... I'd love to upgrade from my mark 2... I was a bit shocked at canons pricing.

Why not "Copy as DNG" when importing instead of keeping native CR2 - smaller files with no loss and future proof (hopefully).

I had the same problem with CS5 when I got the Nikon D7000. DNG converter was okay but I was paranoid I was losing some minor detail from the conversion. After I upgraded CS5 it worked fine but I had been using CS4 before that so I had to buy CS5 the same day as the camera.

I gave DNG a good chance and tested it on a few different setups and computers but in the end just upgraded everything. I have Lightroom 4 working with the same camera but I went back to LR3 recently, when upgrading gear you really have to look into supported software a lot lately.

I was more than happy with CS4 too and was not impressed by Nikon's own software so all in all I think I spent about €3000 that day. How was Canons supplied software? I still have to put all my old plugins and filters on CS5 but for the moment I'm just glad I can view the RAW files now, its the kind of surprise you don't want when buying a new camera especially after taking so many test shots. I have my fingers crossed that the Nikon d4 will work with my current setup :)

Theres a lot of talk over on fstoppers about the D800 being a D4 killer unless you need 10fps
