Callaway Fitting

    Hi all,

I went to a free callaway fitting recently and found it good. I've always used callaway. Anyone else been to one? How did you find it? It lasted about 45 minutes focusing on irons and driver.

First of all, he recommended Razr X Tour Irons 3-PW. I can't remember all the specifications (need to pay €50 if I want to get them) but what I remember is that I need big grips, 4 rings of tape I think. I also need stiff/light shafts as I swing very fast and have a dodgy back.
The one thing I didn't understand was this 2 degree adjustment. He marked the ball with a red marker, I hit it (quiet well) and the line on the club was at 1-2 o clock on the club. What does this mean? Now I only did it once so is it reliable?

I could never hit a driver, it always would just flop down in front of me. He gave me a Razr Fit driver and the same thing happened. He made a few adjustments, increasing loft to about 12 degrees and some other things. I hit 3 drives, 2 went 275 yards and last one went 302 yards.

So I've got the prices for everything. Driver is €345 and irons are €750.
What do people think of those prices?

    Cheers,
    Regan

I have been to a few fitting days, not with an intention to buy just to look etc..

Anyway, every time, without fail, weather it be a pro shop or an individual club brand they always recommend their newest and most expensive clubs.

345 for a driver seems mad money for me anyway, I paid 160 for a callaway driver a while back and like it. If you have the money go for it but are you sure the drive went 300 yards...if you normally can't hit a driver then no club, no ball, no shaft nothing will carry your drive 300, that's tour distance, with a 'dodgy back'

Hes talking about the lie angle of your irons. I.E is the sole of the club parallel with the ground at impact.

A mark of 1-2 o clock suggests the clubs are toe down at impact and he needs to make them more upright to suit you.

On the driver front, Just buy a second hand 12 degree driver for 80 yo yos and see how you get on

Yeah I kinda figured that they would reccomend the most expensive clubs. I actually did have the intention of trying out the Razr Fit driver mainly. Pretty certain it went over 300 yrds, I'm pretty long off tee. Tried a Ping driver today in Killarney off blues and hit it 3 times close to 300 yards.
Tempted to get the new Ping also which is similar price to the Razr Fit.

Thanks, do you think it's reliable with one shot?
See the problem with a 80 yo yos driver is that it won't be a Razr Fit (or the new Ping):(
See I've been suck it!! :)

I would say not. 3 hits would be more Representative.

Also not everyone has the same lie throughout the set.
You could be 2 degree upright from PW to 6 and 1 degree upright from 5 to 3.

You would at least want to get tested at both ends of the scale..
