Help choosing a laptop.....

    Hi, I'm currently trying to choose a laptop for college and I can't really tell the difference between most laptops as they all seem the same. I don't want to spend any more than 550 euro (maybe 600 if it's worth it).

    I won't need it for anything major like video, sound or picture editing. Just powerpoint and word documents. I also surf the internet a lot and keep a lot of tabs (youtube, internet forums) and programmes running at the same time so I think I will need some decent ram. Also a good battery life would be a help (over 5 hours or so).

    The main thing is that it has to be small that is less than 15" but more than 12.5", so either 13.3" or 14" basically. I would like an Intel i3 or i5 but a similar other branded one will be fine too. I would like a dedicated graphics card as I like watching videos and playing online games (but all are very basic).

    I currently have an Acer 5738Z and I've had it for about 2 and a half years. It has 4gb ram and an Intel pentium t4200 2Ghz processor. It hasn't got a dedicated graphics card so music video on the internet usually crash. It is still working perfectly but is very unreliable.

    I was looking at the following but I would like to know what you think.

    To recap I basically need;
    - Small and portable
    - Good battery life
    - Decent ram and processor
    - Dedicated graphics card

    Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.

    I have the Tosbiba laptob you are looking at and I haveto say it's a fairly decent lappy. It is great for battery life and powerful.

    The Acer doesn't have a discrete graphics card, only the standard Intel HD 3000.

    The ASUS's Pentium B950 doesn't get anywhere close to the Core i3 2330M but its up to 10 hrs battery clearly beats the rest in mobility.

    The Tosh is certainly the best performer but max 6 hrs battery life on paper will be probably much less when the Geforce is put to good use.
