I was told recently i would need to get my two lower wisdom teeth removed and given the price which seems really expensive. I heard it was cheaper to get it done in NI. Just wondering how do prices compare to here and how would i go about getting it done in Northern Ireland.

    Thanks :)

I guess that means they're cheaper then :P Any ideas on how I could go about getting it done in NI or where i can find more info on it. Reading through the forums here is where i heard about it being cheaper but can't find anything on getting it done or the cost of it :o

    Thanks again

My sarcasm is lost on you....

It's against forum rules to compare prices etc etc... Individual boarders can pm you with recommendations but as an oral surgeon working in this country.... not me...!!!

A Google search will help you out but remember to compare like with like...
Is the operator a specialist or not, is it done with local anesthetic, iv sedation or general anesthetic. if you have medical insurance, will a clinician in another jurisdiction recognize and cover it....

Oh okay well i have to say my dentist is pretty reasonable...i wont say how much but the initial consultation and what he is going to charge me for the x ray is more than reasonable from what found when comparing prices online. But i'm a poor student with no private health insurance so the cheaper i can get it done the better.

One more question you maybe can help me with...getting it done under pubic heathcare. I know i will be waiting a long time but from what i read on here it still ends up being just as expensive under public. Is that true?

You could ask for a referral to the mater or st james's public maxfax clinic but be prepared to wait years to be seen... This would be cheap or free....

The dublin dental hospital is often seen as a pubic hospital but only if you have a medical card... Last time I checked, they charge as much as I do for a wisdom tooth removal. Not great as you may be treated by a student and again will wait a lifetime to be seen...

    Good luck,
