I'm not looking for medical advice here, I'd just like some help sorting out my situation.

I've been using the Evra patch for years but today, when I was about to go and get my prescription filled, I realized I had lost it! It was 5:55 and the chemist was closed by the time I had a chance to frantically search the house for it. It's now the weekend and all the doctors in town are closed. I'm wondering if there's any chance the chemist will be able to give it to me tomorrow without a prescription or if I'll just have to go without until Tuesday?

I know the Evra patch doesn't have to go on exactly on time but this was supposed to be changed tonight and if it's not changed by tomorrow night it will start to lose effect. I also don't want my cycle to be messed up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone ever found themselves in this situation before? I feel so stupid and now I'm worried! :(

There are usually always some doctors available even on public holidays. You don't say where you are - but if you call your doctors practice you should get forwarded to whoever is available over the weekend. I'd call and tell them about your situation and ask that they give you a new prescription.

    All the best.

In my experience pharmacists wil make allowance for this sort of situation, especially wrt contraception, and especially if you show them an old presciption or they recognise you as having gotten it before.
There is a Boots in Dublin City Centre where they streamline a consultation process for things like this. Not sure if it's a doctor or a pharmacist or what exactly that you see, but there is a little queue for an office to talk to someone. I remember an ex using them and I think it was to get contraception.

You don't need a Rx, no pharmacist would refuse to give an emergency supply of a contraception to anyone.

They might ask you to bring in the Rx to them when you get one sorted, but in practice it doesn't matter.
