CHANGE OF NAME IN PASSPORT

    Hello can some one help me here,I have recently changed my name last November,and so far i ahve changed my driving Licence,My bank details and my work pay slips, i mean everything,went to apply last week and was told i have to bring tow Id's which is related to the new Name,so i sent my driving Licence and my bank statements,they now sent everything to me that the law has changed and i can apply for a new passport with my new name on 2014 because it has to take one year,so i went to DFA websites and there was nothing there which indicates that it ahs to take two years,can some one help me, is it discrimination or what is going on?can i contact a lawyer?i am travelling to America and am afraid i will be arrested or something might happen to me because of two Id's,
    any help i will appreciate.

    Do you have an EU passport with your name and picture in it?

    AFAIK It does't matter what name, as long it as it was your correct name when the passport was issued. Many people travel on maiden names or ex-married names. My wife even has a spelling mistake on her passport!

    Does it have more than 6 months to run?
    Did you you apply on line for for an ESTA?


    Is yes - to all 3 you can go to America.

    I am Irish Citizen and have Irish passport.I think just loved my new name which is of Muslim name.so no other reason

    I am an Irish Citizen and it has more than six months to run.
    have not than the ESTA yet.

    The six months time limit on a passport does not apply to the USA.
