medical card and sick certs

    If you have a full medical card do you have to pay for a sick cert?
    My cousins son had surgery last week and his surgeon told him to have this week off school, now the nurses gave his mom a sick cert for last week as he was in hospital but said he'd have to get another 1 of his gp for this week. The receptionist at the gp surgery has said that the cert will cost 10 euros is this right?

    its up in a few places on notice boards in my gps.
    I dont think medical certs are one of the things covered under the medical card system so you have to pay for them.

    What... bloody hell I had an illness last year and dont have a medical card and never paid for a sick cert.... and I had to get the ones for Illness Benefit and also a cert for employer every week for approx 6 weeks. I suppose it depends on the GP technically this is not a sw sick cert which they are paid for. Does he really need to have a sick cert for school.
