Because in your driveway or outside gates means you are in public view, and you have no expectation of privacy.

Just wondering then does that mean a random stranger can follow you round town filming you but you cant do anything about it?

Okey dokey thank ya very much :)

Neighbours from hell next door are now putting us under surveillance everytime i go out to my car.
Not sure how to handle the situation, ring the guards or shoving the camera up his h0le.
    It can be very irritating..

Probably be best to just ignore them, would it?

Just out of curiosity when is it illegal to film somebody
(apart from using the footage commercially)

I think that would fall under stalking or harassment before it would fall under any laws on filming people.

    Why?

    Loooooooooooog story!

All started over a plumber parking at her wall, not impeding access to her gate. She went gaga. Now insults any guests coming in here calling them knackers, fat and smelly. Shes not the full shilling ..runs around telling the only neighbour she talks to that we intimidate her, when we turn a blind eye and pretend she doesn't exist. They (other neighbours) have recently told her to stop taking her problems to their door as they know shes a bit choo-choo. Her husband tbf seems/seemed alright but obviously is going to stick up for his wacko wife.

He is now a camera surveillance man :pac:

The people on the road are here 40+ years, all pensioners and all good neighbours and friends never any problems. They moved in 4years ago (couple in mid 30s) and have caused noting but hostility mainly directed as us for some reason

The data protection act would prohibit them from putting you under surveilence like that. Contact the commissioners office.

Would that not more apply to the storage/use of the footage, rather than the actual taking of the footage in the first place?

Are there such laws in Ireland? I know they have been discussed, but I'm not specifically aware of any such laws.

Looks like I supposed right. But in fairness it makes sense that there's such a law.
