Bank Holiday next Monday???

I heard, the St. Patrick's Day Bank Holiday has been transferred to next Monday. I checked some diaries and calendars in the house, different opinions, asked some neighbors, different opinions. Same with links coming up on Google.

Anyway, some schools and offices are closed, but I would not take that as a sign for a Bank Holiday.

So what is the truth now? Bank Holiday tomorrow or Monday?

    Thanks :)

Rather than you having to put up with a barrage of smart answers......Basically people who normally work Monday to Friday get the benefit of the bank holiday on Monday. People , mostly in the retail sector who work Saturday as a normal day, get the benefit of a paid day off tomorrow. Hope that helps ;)

I'm getting double time for working tomorrow and Sunday, then standard rate for Monday. In my job Monday is a bank hol only for the Mon-Fri 9-5 staff, for everyone else the bank hol is tomorrow.

I'm working as a Community Care Support Worker, so no Monday to Friday week. Maybe that's the difference. Schools and offices only work Monday to Friday on the other side. Maybe that's why they are Monday off instead.

So maybe I just put Bank Holiday hours on my timesheet, as I am working Monday next...and see what happens. Can't claim them for tomorrow, because I'm off.

And never mind about funny answers, they always kind of cheer me up ;)

I'm off shift on Monday, but it will be like an ordinary day for my colleagues who are working this week.

I'm working Monday, but get two holidays (or two day's pay) in compensation.

Saturday in the bank holiday Monday is a day in lieu but by local arrangement or obligation, but companies do not have to grant it.

This is true and if they do grant it, it doesn't necessarily have to be Monday.
My friend works for an American company. Mon-fri, but she doesn't have Monday off. They obviously decided not to grant a day in lieu.

I found out today actually, I know someone in the Defense forces and it was only decided today to grant Monday in lieu to them, up to then it was a normal working day. So I imagine all the PS management had the same regulations to go by.

Like in 'depending from sector to sector'?

For example schools, some of them were closed today as well, plus next Monday. Looks to me like two paid days extra for teachers, even if they are not working tomorrow anyway.

It must be the stress of the 25 hour week, 4 months holidays and good pay. A real bummer.

If you are going by a UK/EU/US/OZ/Asian made calender then there will be no bank holiday stated for next monday's date. If its Irish made calender likely to have bank holiday stated on it for next monday. I could be wrong for the UK one though.

Alright, saying as no-one else has asked yet....

Its mothers day Sunday, and as I've been so busy at work (and Cheltenham being on...) I never got a chance to pick up a card, and other essentials for me mammy!

Anyone know if shops are open tomorrow, namely Liffey valley or the Square?
