I want to get clipless pedals and shoes, but am having trouble finding shoes. My shoe size is a 41 and i need a wide fitting shoe. I have tried a pair of Specialized womens shoe which were too narrow and a Spuik pair which were better but a small around the toes. Today i tried on a Shimano womens pair which fit well but were butt ugly brown and orange trekking/touring shoes:(. So any recomendations for wide fitting, nice looking ladies SPD shoes that won't break the bank?

    Hi Mel.

I am a 36 and I am always annoyed that all the nice shoes don't exist in a small size.

I read a few forums and a lot of women with wide foot just buy men's shoes. With a sz41 you got a lot of men shoes available to you, so I wouldn't just look for women's shoes.

Sidi makes a wide version of their unisex/men shoes called 'Mega'. They exist in both MTB and Road shoes. CRC sells them as far as I know.

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31975 for example.

I personally wouldn't go for a woman shoe if I had the choice.

You re welcome to try the pair im selling on the cycling ads. Its on page three or four at this stage. Dont forget that you go for a size up on the shimano makes. Id definitely buy mens shoes too if they looked reasonable.

I'm back with the same dilemma:( The LBS got another pair of shoes in for me tonight. Both pairs are MTB SPD shoes (Spuik compass 01... spuik-1.png and Shimano sh-wm43...shimano.jpg

What I would prefer though is something like these (Shimano Ladies WR35 SPD Touring Shoes)...

However the LBS thinks because I had a wide foot, I need something like the top two and that 'road shoes' are too narrow. Is this generally true?

While the LBS has been very helpful about getting sizes in for me to try, I don't know if they are just saying this as that is all they have:confused: The Shimano shoes do appear to fit well, but I'm just worried about them being too big and bulky. I currently cycle with a pair of lightweight sketches shoes, which have less bulk than a pair of runners, so I don't really want to want something bulkier, but if i have too, I will :(

I going to check out another bike shop tomorrow to see what they have but I'm getting confused at the moment.

    Thanks
    Mel.b

Some makes of road shoe are narrow, others are not.

I have never known someone to be unable to find a road shoe that fits.

Shimano and Specialized road shoes would be worth trying, if you haven't already.

Thanks - that what I thought - just like normal shoes, some are wider than others.

Will go to a different LBS tomorrow and see how i get on.
