You would like to buy a club and run it the way you think it should be run. We all give out about the hiring and firing of managers, let's see how you'd like things done.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    2. Why that club ?

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

Just for the laugh, feel free to add in your own scenarios / questions ! I'll do my own answers later on in the thread. Apologies if this has been done before.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Leeds

    2. Why that club ?
I support them and want to see them run better

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
    Stick with Warnock

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
    N/A

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
I'll employ my own private scouts to scout players as well as the club scouts, and suggest them, I'll read tactical analysts' work on our team, but the manager will always have final say on buying/selling. A wage budget to pay the youth team an alright wage and a 25+ man squad with high end championship wages. Transfers to be sanctioned as I see fit.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
    I'll let Warnock keep going.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
It depends on what he wants to spend it on.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
    Twice at least

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
Ask him why he's not mentioned it to the manager.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
Warnock'll probably have left by then so not really applicable

They don't take to fantasy too good round these parts.

I would become PRO of a small rural club and help where I can, FYI.

Ah sure it's only for a laugh - if people don't want to contribute, fair enough.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Liverpool

    2. Why that club ?

    I Support Them

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

    Replace

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

Pep Guardiola - because he is one the best managers who plays a great style of football - 5 Years - 5 Million per year

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

    Give him the money

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

    Give the manager time

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

    Tell him to sell first

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

    After each game

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

i would tell them to speak to the manager about it

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Leeds UTD

    2. Why that club ?
Needs small investment to get back Premiership and huge fan base.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

Leave it for the minute, just outside playoffs, great at getting teams into premiership.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
Budget but I approve it first.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ? Relax and take note of mistakes done.
Warnock has seen it all before, take not of mistakes and learn

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
Depends on the players he wants to bring in. Not going to spend money for the sake of it. Loan deals may be better suited.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
Il get on to him if I want a update. Need to leave a manager to run the club.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
Do you want to play in the premiership or not? You should be able play any position.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
I back the manager and give them the "Theres a long way to go."

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Aston Villa

    2. Why that club ?
I support them, and if I've got a billion to spend, I'm likely to be a businessman - and Villa own a LOT of land around Birmingham that's ripe for redevelopment.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
    Sack

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
Villas Boas, 2 year deal £4m per year. He's a good young manager who could do great things if given time.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
I'll instate a director of football and outline with him and the manager that they are a partnership. If the manager has direct player requests, that's fine, but he can also suggest positions and kinds of players to the DOF who'll in turn get the scouts out and about looking for them. The buck stops with the manager in terms of final decisions on signings though. The amount he has to spend would depend both his and the DOF's full and frank assessment of the existing squad

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
Meet with the manager to get his assessment on progress. It's a top to bottom change of the club, so wouldn't be expecting miracles early on. If the manager things that things are on course, and that there are noticeable changes happening on the training ground to get the players adapted to the style of play, then that's fine.

If things aren't going the way he planned, for whatever reason, it's time to root out the problem. Are there trouble makers in the squad? Is the manager being undermined? Are there splits in the dressing room? These all need to be sorted out as a club, rather than the responsibility resting solely on the manager.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
It all depends on his track record with signings, how the wage bill looks and whether or not the player represents a deal that you can't pass up. If any of these things are called into question, he'll be asked to supplement the transfer fee and wages by offloading the least wanted player in the new player's position.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
    Twice a week, minimum.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
Tell them they need to speak to the manager about their concerns. When the player has left, speak immediately to the manager about the problems raised and find out how he plans on addressing the issues. If he thinks that the style of football is the right one, and he can genuinely see progress towards a final end goal, then back him to the hilt, including shipping out players where necessary.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
That would be a job for the club's PR team and the manager, should he wish to address it publically

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
Resurrect Kilkenny City AFC. AS it's a new club I'd build a 10,000 seater within the city and a decent training complex outside. The stadium would have a dual function, perhaps a shopping centre or hotel, maybe a removable pitch for concerts. I think Buckley Park was too far out of the city for a lot of fans.

    2. Why that club ?
    It's my home city

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ? As it's a new club yes.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary? I'd give him a short contract with a low basic but well rewarded for success. Perhaps someone like Paul Cook who's had success in the LOI.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him? I would be heavily involved in the financial day to day but ultimately I would leave the manager to select his own players. If he wanted money for a player I would ask how much is the player worth to us in the long term.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ? I would allow him time, I wouldn't sack until our faith is known but once it's known that it's not good I'd sack as early as possible, so if the manager said we're guaranteed promotion and with eight games to go our best possible place it fourth, he's out.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ? Depends on the situation, have we had a successful season? Perhaps a new player could take us that extra level or maybe he needs an emergency player due to injury.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
Probably towards the weekend and once the squad regroups after a match.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction? I'd support the manager, particularly if we're doing well.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ? Support the manager, I'd tell the fans that overall success is more important than one game.

You would like to buy a club and run it the way you think it should be run. We all give out about the hiring and firing of managers, let's see how you'd like things done.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Blackburn Rovers

    2. Why that club ?

I support them and would like to "buy" them the title like Uncle Jack did all those years ago ;)

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
Stick with him till the end of the season and then move him back into a coaching role at the club and bring in someone with a bit more of a clue.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

Be keen to try and get someone who had previously had success with the club. Sam Allerdyce or Mark Hughes or someone like that. 3 years to start, no clue on salary :)

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

I am a good, kind owner who loves the club and wants to see it succeed. I will give the manager a budget. Taking over now though I'm not sure what I'd give. 20-30 million. 2-3 million if I got big Sam cause he's good on a budget :D

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

do nothing. back the manager, back the players. First season in charge. There's no need to be calling for anyones head, lol

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

Depends on how he did. or how we did :D

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

    Several times a week.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

I know what I'd tell Steve Kean right now for sure! ;)

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

    Dunno, lol :D

    man united

    2. Why that club ?

    to ruin them

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

replace with a squirrel. my own squirrel. he's called harold.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

10 year contract. bag of mixed nuts every quarter.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

i rule with an iron fist.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

reduce managers nut allowance to 3 walnuts a week.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

implement a "buy to nut" policy. players can be sold, but only for varying amounts of nuts.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

    thrice hourly.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

The OP reminds me of a mate of mine who used to always choose Man Utd when playing Football Manager. He'd then buy 15 keepers and play them outfield with a striker in goal. The aim of the game was to get them relegated before he got the sack.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Real Betis

    2.Why that club

Have a soft spot having attended two games at the Villamarin a few years back. Plus Patrick O'Connell won them their first, and only, La Liga title. Legend

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

Keep the current coach Pepe Mel. He's done a good job and is an experienced manager in La Liga.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

    N/A

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

The manager, the Director of Football and I are involved in transfers.

    Other plans

    - 4 year plan to become serious title contenders.
    - Investment in a world class cantera and scouting system.
    - Complete the redevelopment of the Benito Villamarin - can be expanded to 65,000/70,000. Roof the stadium as well. Increased capacity and comfort means increased revenues.
    - Look to form partnerships with clubs in Spain and overseas - commercial and footballing

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

    Give the manager time.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

No. He needs to sell players first or get them in on loan.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

    Monday & Thursday.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

Back the manager and tell the player to bring any football concerns up with the manager not me.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

Ah...against Sevilla! Say that I am disappointed with the result, and that as a fan of the club I understand how the fans feel but that we can take positives from the game. If it's at the Sanchez Pizjuan say we look forward to beating them at home where we'll teach them a lesson in football. If it were a home derby game we lost then say we will go all out reciprocate on their home patch. All the time backing the manager.

It's definitely too far out. When I was younger I could never get a lift out there for matches. Now that I have a car I've no matches to go to. I'd love nothing more than to head to a KK City match on a Friday night.

Buckley Park and Derdimus are great pitches and the changing rooms are very good but it's completely inaccessible for people who don't have a car. A vast majority of the people at matches were young kids so if they couldn't get a lift then there was hardly anyone there.

If I had my billion euros I'd stick the stadium down in the mart. Give the council 3 million to pass the planning. Stick an underground car park where the actual mart was and then have the rest for the stadium and training facilities. It's completely unrealistic but I'd like it cause I live 2 minutes walk from there. Also I'm a billionaire so I can do anything I want.

I am far from a Newcastle fan, in fact I'd of said a season or 2 ago I hate them. Mainly because of Ashley/Allardyce/Roeder and in general how they were run. They do however have a great fanbase and some excellent players to build with and an extremely intelligent manager.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

Pardew gets not nearly as much credit as he should get. He is brilliant and would be my man going forward. If we couldn't work together I would be looking to Ancellotti or Di Matteo.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
I am the owner, I own the club and they players, while I won't go and buy a Shevchenko for 30million thats not wanted I will have the final say on the players to be bought. With my millions I would buy 5 players in for Newcastle straight off the bat. M.Sakho off P.S.G. Give him the number 3 shirt. Nico Gaitan off Benfica give him the number 11. Michael Veloso off Sporting, number 8. Aly Cissoko. The french wonder left back with the number 6 and my huge signing would be Hulk with the number 7.

Think of the hype for your fans. A rice guy buys the club and there within a week of him buying the club you see 5 players, Sakho, Cissoko, Hulk, Veloso and Gaitan, standing there holding up their black and white jerseys
with 3, 6, 7, 8, 11 being held up. The amount of Jerseys you will sell would be your marketing managers dream.

(Also sell the **** out of Williamson, Guthrie, Lovenkrans, Perch and Best to start with)

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

Keep the manager and don't change too much. This team with this manager can keep us up. Maybe bring in an experienced coach and player. Someone like Shearer as a coach or Les Ferdinand. An experienced player, preferably English or French, to play just a few games for you (like City did with Vieria) just to keep everyones heads in there and for a man with such experience to help those young players

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

Well looking from the first season you'd assume
    Sakho 15million
    Cissoko 10million
    Hulk 35million
    Veloso 8million
    Gaitan 15million

    Thats 83 million.
I'd grant him money for another centre back. Someone preferably like Hummels/Subotic but your looking at another 15/20 million for a centre back. If someone like Ganso was available yes I'd grant the money but in general he would be given 20 million to buy 2 players and then could spend whatever he would get from selling those not wanted

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

A meeting every Monday in his office, that way I'm making the effort of going to the training ground n not having him trek to mine at the stadium. Also he is the man, its his office which would make him feel comfortable.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

This is nothing to do with me, he needs to be a man and speak to the manager, the manager is a very understanding man and is open to discussion

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

Declare my full support for Alan. Tell the fans none of us are happy most of all the players and Alan. And show some form of unity in myself and Alan stating we will do everything we can to beat Sunderland next time we play them

Just for the laugh, feel free to add in your own scenarios / questions ! I'll do my own answers later on in the thread. Apologies if this has been done before.

    1. Newcastle. At the end of the day they have enough of a population in the city that you could expand the stadium to 60,000 maybe even 65,000 n sell out most of the time. I reckon its about 200million would easially buy it off Mike Ashley seen as he wanted 110million last year.

    2. Why that club ?

You would like to buy a club and run it the way you think it should be run. We all give out about the hiring and firing of managers, let's see how you'd like things done.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Birmingham City

    2. Why that club ?

Because it's a big city, loads of fans

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

    Fire him, only coming 4th

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

Someone who has won a domestic cup, will give him a 4 year contract.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

A rich badass mother****er... I'll give him all the money he wants... I'll pay him loads too
I'll select players I like that I've watched a few times and suggest them to manager.. but compeltely up to him

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

Fire the manager, hire a new guy, that has won his domestic league

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

All the money he wants, but if we're not first and we haven't won the champions league , it's immaterial because I have already fired him, so new guy, new budget

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

I'll watch the game on television, if we win, I don't care, I'm enjoying the high life on my yacht and surrounded by models

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

Fire the manager, and invite the players onto my yacht and get to know them

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

    Raise the ticket prices.

You could buy any uk club bar man u and invest heavily with that budget.

it would be a lot more interesting if the budget was £100m.

liverpool, mourinho, invest heavily, support the manager, win everything, sell for a profit the following season before it bankrupts me.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Bayern Munich

    2. Why that club ?
Fairly debt-free (I think), in a well-run league. They're my Bundesliga team (the team from Germany I'd follow), they're a successful team with great history and pedigree. However, I feel they should be more dominant in Germany, winning 3/4/5 Bundesliga Titles in a row, rather than the current "win this year, 2nd the next, win this year, 3rd the next" pattern that has emerged, and injecting cash for players and so on is one way of making a team dominant.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
I'd stick with Heynckes for the time being; the man has an impressive enough C.V. and they are playing well enough under him.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
If results are not going to well, and Heynckes needs the chop, I'd try to lure God to the club... Mourinho. The man is just the manager of managers and I'd initially offer him a 3-year contract, on a salary of approx. €6,000,000 per year (with performance bonuses, etc.). I would not care what kind of football the team played; once they won. If they are grinding out 1-0 every week and become known as 'Boring, Boring Bayern', I don't care. Once they win everything in sight, that's all I want!

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
Once we're winning things, I don't care. The manager picks the team, does the transfers... manages the team. I'll sit in the stands and watch, while he manages. The chequebook will be opened for him at the transfer windows, and (within reason) as much as he thinks he needs will be made available to him.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
Grit teeth and get on with it. Things will pick up. Six months is not a long time. Domestic cups would not be as much a priority. Hope that the league form picks up (now that cup 'distractions' are out of the way) and at the very least ensure a high enough finish to qualify for a European Competition for the next season.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
This depends on the season. If the team misfired and new blood is obviously needed, then yeah. Blaze away. Similar opening of the chequebook for him again. Maybe not as much, and also encourage sale of anyone that would be surplus to requirement. But it all depends on the finish for the season. If there was no trophy at all, finishing outside European spots and all that... there is a good chance he'd get a higher budget to get more players in. If the team swept the boards, there is not such an imperative need for change and more careful allocating of funds will be observed.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
At least 3 times a week. Even if it's only a phonecall that lasts a few minutes for one of those times, just to touch base and let the ivory-tower man know how things are!

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
Your manager is the one to talk to. It also depends on how the team is playing at the moment. Once again, I'm a very easily pleased owner. I do not want pretty football (although it would be nice). I just want to WIN. If that means 11-men behind the ball for 85 minutes a game, so be it. But I expect little-to-no communication directly from players, regardless of seniority. The chain of hierarchy should be observed; player complains to manager, manager complains to owner. Simple.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
Second game in? Dodgy penalty? That is bad luck, and very early into the season. This is a project (most likely) and not one that will get the chop lightly. Time will be given. Unless the team is facing relegation or something, it is unlikely to change my opinion.

    11. The team suffers an abyssmal second season under the new man; no trophy at all, fails to qualify for ANY European Competition, loses to biggest rivals, etc. There is uproar in both the dressing room and the stands. What now?
Bad as it may seem, this is what is unacceptable. Lack of success. I really could care less what players, fans, anyone thinks of the style of football or anything else. But once the team is unsuccessful, that is when the line is drawn by the owner. As I stress, I don't care about style, I only want substance. And if the team is playing like a poor man's Barcelona but winning sod all I'm not happy. If they're playing ugly but winning things, then I'm happy. Success is key.

    12. The team is playing hideous, defensive, 'boring' football. But are winning games, being successful and having good runs in the league, cups and in Europe. Does the style of the football influence you all the same?
Not in the slightest. Win, and win by any means. It doesn't need to be pretty. 3 points in the league is gained just as much by 1-0 and 10-0.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Bray Wanderers

    2. Why that club ?

    Local team and support them

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

    Keep current manager

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

Despite all the money, maybe Pete Mahon as available immediately. 2 years

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

Be more like a fan...offer advice but largely be ignored. Give him a budget, and help suggest players

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

Keep the manager. If its only first season after a windfall, it'll take morethan 6 months to make them league-beaters.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

I'd back hm again. Nothing like a mid-season splash to show intent.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

2/3 times, although would be heavily involved so could know everything anyway.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

Ask him to tell the manager. Follow up on it and make sure theres no animosity in the dressing room.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

    Give him a second season.

    to ruin them

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Cardiff City

    2. Why that club ?
I'd like to do a Hoffenheim and there's enough interest in Cardiff for them to be viable.
Spend loads of money on youth development, facilities, coaching staff, devloping the brand and popularising it locally. Make it a club on firm footing. It'd be rewarding.
And Poyet is there - I think that'd be conducive, with the right investment, to very good football.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
    Gus Poyet all the way.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
    N/A

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
Budget, so long as wage structure is low (so as not to alienate other players). Transfer fees unlimited.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
    Nothing.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
    Yup

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
    Twice

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
Tell him he'll be out on his ear if he breaks chain of command again.

Tell them to be patient or I'll take the money away.

It's definitely too far out. When I was younger I could never get a lift out there for matches. Now that I have a car I've no matches to go to. I'd love nothing more than to head to a KK City match on a Friday night.

Even if they had of lit the road as far as Buckley park it would have been something. Pain always trying to get a lift and then when you were inside trying to sort one back. Agree with the mart proposition as I only live around the corner.

I went out to Derdimus for a match there yesterday. I'd nearly forgotten how far out it is. From my house in Meadow Way to there was easily 15 minutes, and I was going flat out the whole time as well.

3 kilometres from the ring road is way too far imo. Especially in a city with absolutely zero public transport.

It's a huge pity really. There were 2-300 people at the match. I haven't seen that many people at a soccer match in Kilkenny since I was 15.

I'm very close to you there. The problem was, kids found it hard to get out so there was little hope for future fans. That's how sport rolls.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Nottingham Forest

    2. Why that club ?

City have been bought, Huddersfield have a new owner, Forest are my 3rd team. My LOI team I could probably buy as it is :D

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

NO!!! Cotterill was a bad choice.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

    In order of preference:

    1. Brendan Rodgers.3 years and whatever he wants within reason.
    2. Paul Lambert. 3 years and whatever he wants within reason.
    3. Gus Poyet. 3 years and a little more than what he's getting now.
    4. Alan Curbishley. 2 years at the going rate in the Championship.
    5. Roy Keane. 2 years at the going rate in the Championship.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

I might make the odd enquiry as to why we aren't buying the best of the best based on my current Football Manager game :D I'd want an enormous investment in youth. I'd ideally like a first 11 derived largely from the youth academy eventually. But other than that, no. I hired the manager to do that. £25 million first season, second season, less depending on the manager.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

Nothing. As long as were in the top 6 come May, manager gets another season. If he can't even make the playoffs, he can f*** off!

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

Yes. 10 million. If he doesn't achieve, he gets sacked.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

    2-3.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

Tell them to cop the **** on, do what the manager says and quit their ****ing whining.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

Nothing. I'd be more interested in the next game. But regardless, every manager gets at least 10 games, regardless of how awful the team are. I call it the Steve Kean rule ;)

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Bayern Munich

    2. Why that club ?
Has the potential to be the biggest in the world, great infrastructure and history. Good stadium and the biggest club in a well run league.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
    Replace

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
Joachim Löw. His side plays attractive football, he's not afraid to put young players in prominant position. Would be popular with fans and press. Three year contract on 1.5-2m a year.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
I'd be like the Glazers without the debt (YES, a bit of controversy) I would give him a budget but would have a say in signings, I wouldn't sign someone I thought was crap, I'd give him 30-40m a year, no 50m+ signings.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
Persist until the end of the season

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
Depends on who he wants and for how much. Wouldn't waste money on a pot shot.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
From the manager, every second or third day

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
The players would have no contact with me whatsoever

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
    Nothing

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Celtic

    2. Why that club ?

    I support them....

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

Yes but I'd try to keep him on the coaching staff so he could learn from the best.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

    I'd bring back Mo'N.
    Whatever he wants....

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

    As silent as possible.
    No.
I'd give an annual bugdet. 50-80m a year depending on what players are required.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

Give him etime to rebuild, I doubt he need it though ;)

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

Depends on the Player he's after.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

The less the better as this would be a sign things are going well.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

    Reserves for you so.....

We might lose, but the fans would not turn against Mo'N........

I think the most you can buy at a German club is 49%, even if you had a billion to spend.

I'd probably buy someone like Arsenal.
Why, because as a business proposition they are on great shape.
You could easily get them for a realistic sum, they have a great ground, a large support and with the right investment would do very well.
I'd leave everything as is at the club and try sell them on in a few years time.

I didn't read all the way through but...

I would buy a club that's in debt for 1 pound or euro, which sometimes happens with companies in debt.

Then buy Messi for a billion, I think that's his buyout clause.

Pretty much what was done with Napoli and Maradona. Average team, bought Maradona, best team in Italy within a couple of years.

Barcelona have great midfielders, but you'd wonder how well they would do without Messi scoring all those goals and making assists. A lot of them he created from nothing by himself.

Roy Hodgson €1Mill a year for 2 years

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

I will buy up all the deadwood off Liverpool at Huge prices and sell all my best players

    Wet myself laughing

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?

    Borussia Dortmund

    2. Why that club ?

My favorite team in the Bundesliga

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?

Keep him. Klopp is a fantastic manager who sets his team up to play excellent attacking football. His tactical acumen might mean I'll struggle to keep him though.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?

If, and its a big if, I'd probably turn to AVB. Give him a 3 year contract with an option to extend after 2 years on £3.5 million a year

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?

The manager is there to buy the players he wants for the team. I'd give him an outline budget of £25 million at the start of the season with an extra £10M should he need it. A provisional budget then come January if he requires it for emergencies or contingency signings. When it comes to the January transfer window, I'd tell him to locate targets and tell him the money is there to sign players for the summer.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?

Give him time. I'm not a reactionary, knee jerk person so will give the manager time to turn it around

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?

I'd ask him to explain why he needs the money. If its for contract extensions then I'd want to know why he wants that player to stay and determine his value to the club. If its for players then, again, I'd want to know his reasoning, his targets and approximate costs. If, his requests are reasonable, then I would grant him a budget of £18/20 million; transfers and contract extensions inclusive.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?

Twice weekly reports. Before and after matches. Contact, I'd meet with him a few times a week to get his thoughts on what the club needs; extra coaches, more staff, money for youth etc.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?

Tell him to speak to the manager. I have no business dealing with team affairs, only club problems.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?

Nothing. If I trust the manager, I'll give him my backing in a private meeting.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Longford Town.

    2. Why that club ?
Hometown team; Greater chance of achieving success in a shorter team domestically in LOI, and focus on playing in Europe.

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
    Stick with Cousins.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
    n/a

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
Have to put faith in your manager. Manager and scouts propose transfer targets and I would have to approve them. Budget for new signings would be kept to a minimum, instead money would be invested in youth programme and facilities. Make sure a solid foundation is backing up the team.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
Regular communication with the manager to keep updates, but no action taken as it's only 6 months.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
Budget was limited to start with and is dependent on player by player basis so it's still open to approval.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
Once a week is more than enough, unless something urgent requires attention.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
Players report to Manager. If they feel he is not listening, I may seek advice from Manager. At the end of the day, the manager still makes the call, not me.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
Acknowledge fans concern, but highlight that it is a build up situation and a minimum of a two year plan. A manager must be given time to work. There should be no short term fixes.

I'd get involved with the re-birth of New York Cosmos just so I could say I work with Eric Cantona.

50 Years Later the MLS is entirely restructured and becomes the world's biggest league. There will be a statue of me and Eric embracing in a man-hug alongside the Statue of Liberty (but taller), and the entirety of the US will call the sport "football", changing the name of their version to "Not-Rugby".

Myself and Eric live happily ever after.

    1. What club do you buy ( note that if you choose a club that is in debt, the first thing you'll have to do is clear the debt ) ?
    Sampdoria.

    2. Why that club ?
Have a soft spot for them, from their heydays in the early ninties. They won the scudetto in 1991 (I think)
Also, the Italian riveria is a nice place to live :)

    3. Do you replace the manager they currently have and bring in your own man, or would you be prepared to stick with him for the forseeable ?
    don't know.

    4. If you replace him, what manager do you go for and why? What sort of a contract do you give him? Length and annual salary?
Medium term would hope to get Vialli or Mancini back.

    5. What type of owner are you ? Will you buy players over the head of the manager or will you give him a budget to work with. How much do you give him?
Would hope to attend a majority of home games, but would be in the background. Praise in public, criticise in private etc.

    6. Six months in, and the team are not doing well. They're slightly below the league position that is expected, and out of all domestic cups. What do you do, if anything ?
Probably nothing. Currently in Serie B. Would be hoping for promotion, but probably wouldn't act unless relegation to Serie C was threatened.

    7. During the summer, the manager asks for more money. He has spent all of the budget you assigned in the last transfer window. Do you back him again ? How much do you grant him ?
I wouldn't give extra budget. If there was a special case, i.e. particular player who came available at a good price that was a good fit, then yes.

    8. How many times a week would you expect contact / updates from him ?
Probably want to hear the team selection before each match (but not to second guess it), would want to hear any bad stories before they reach the media.

    9. A senior player comes to you with a complaint. He has not mentioned it to the manager. The players don't like the style of football they're being asked to play. Some players feel they're not being played in the right position. What is your reaction?
I would tell him the manager has my full support, if he wants to leave I will be sorry to see him go.

    10. The team loses away to their biggest rivals in the second league game of the next season as a result of a very dodgy penalty. The team played OK but weren't wonderful either. There is a section of the home fans that are turning against the manager. What, if anything, do you do about it ?
    Probably nothing.
