Can I top up my Paypal account with my credit card?

    Hi,

I need to issue a refund to an Ebay buyer. I don't have sufficient funds in my paypal account and wish to top it up. It appears that the only way to do this is by bank transfer, which is slow.

I have my credit card linked to the paypal account but there doesn't seem to be an option to top up from the credit card.

Have I missed something or is my only option to do a bank transfer?

    Thanks for any replies
    I

What if I use the Issue Refund link, but I don't have the total amount available in my PayPal balance?

Answer : When you send a refund using the Issue Refund link, we deduct the total amount of your refund from your PayPal balance.

If your PayPal balance does not cover the refund:
    • If you have a confirmed U.S. bank account, we'll withdraw the amount of the refund from your bank account.
    • If you don't have a confirmed U.S. bank account, you won't be able to issue the refund until you add money to your PayPal balance.
The status of a refund that's issued from your bank account is "Pending" unitl the funds clear. Depending on the bank, it can take 3 to 5 business days for funds to clear.

You cannot top up an account from a credit card, at all. Your only option is to add funds to your account.

I have paid for several items via Paypal, with no funds in mt a/c. I have a credit card linked to my a/c and all payments come from that as needed. Can that arrangement not work in reverse?

No, paying is completely different. That's how Paypal's payment system works; it charges the amount to your credit card. For a refund, it must be sourced by cash. Don't know why, that's just the way it is.

    Thanks for your replies.

I'll just have to go with the bank transfer then so.

    Cheers

Another option is to send the money using his email address , but I don't know how secure this is .

Its not seen as a refund though .
