it is possible to get a small flat for €550 in dublin...not all landlords charge ridiculous rent for one beds.

the only problem is that they are few and far between and if you have to move at a certain time you mightn't get lucky

you'll definitely get a cottage or house if you go a bit into wicklow...not bray or greystones but maybe wicklow town or brittas...(bit further than 30k)

another option is one of those city cottages, like the ones off cork st, ive seen them for €650 maybe you could get the rent lowered...no harm in asking

    best of luck!

    Maynooth - €420 a month - 25km from Dublin

Possible granny flat, but unknown. I doubt there'll be much insulation, so probably cold during the winter. About 15 minutes walk from train station, maybe 20 minutes to the bus stop. 66 & 67N serves Maynooth.

    Leixlip - €500 a month - 20km from Dublin

Probably a one of the side bits, as seen here. Build quality is usually decent in those builds, and if the landlord has put insulation into the roof part, it should be quite cosy. 20 minutes walk to train/bus. 66 & 66N serves Leixlip

    Dublin - €475 a month - Portobello, Dublin 8

No really sure about this one. Most likely a studio apartment, but it almost doesn't. Not sure if it's an "actual" apartment or not.

    Best of luck!

    WICKLOW TOWN

now there is only the photo you see, so i cannot tell if it is a studio or not, she doesn't describe it like one, but i guess the only way to tell is go-see

there is also a few in arklow, but not sure if that is too far for you to travel? don't know what mode of transport you would be using, and public transport from arklow isn't fantastic. there are a decent enough number of bus eirann (sp?) buses, but the train service is diabolical
