Stolen Nissan Pao alert!

My festive-as-christmas Nissan Pao (blue, hardtop, manual, 90D 56139) was stolen from off Clonliffe road in Dublin yesterday or the night before. Given that it's kinda unusual and a rather unlikely choice for joyriding, I'm guessing it's been dumped somewhere. If anyone spots it could they post up here or PM me. It's identifiable from ALL the other Paos out there by it's alloys, which are kinda sorta like modern minilites.

    (blue, hardtop, manual, 90 D 56139)

that alone makes it worth stealing for a joyrider.

Cars since '98-'99 have electronic key ignition systems and cannot easily be hot-wired or started by other scumbaggy means. With the supply of cars pre-'98/'99 falling obviously as time passes, I imagine the scumbags are getting more desperate and less picky.

I like the Pao. Hope you get it back in good order.

It's easy to steal for sure, but rather pointless for joyriding - it's unable to summon up anything more than tepid performance, and you look like a clown trying.

Alot (most) of the Jap imports don't have any security at all and hence targeted by the scummers.

Buy a tracker and fit an aftermarket alarm :)

Plenty of options for the older car, however it does not deter the fact that they will be easier to break into.

Mind explaining to me why it is "gay"?

Well - it's VERY camp - just look at it. And I bought it from a gay guy, so it has heritage. Nothing wrong with a gay car at all, it's no slight.

I have a few 'security features' on it alright ;)

Looks like a modern VW thing :)

I think I've seen it around Dublin before, best of luck getting it back.

Car was spotted by facebooker in recovery yard - seems the guards found it, but didn't feel the need to let me know. Yard can't tell me what state it's in until it's been fingerprinted.

I don't really think it is gay-looking, whatever that is. It's a bit too utilitarian, reminds me of an R4. If I were gay i'd be looking for something a bit more flamboyant!

Fingers crossed it has not been damaged too much :)

Still doesn't stop the fcukers breaking in. Had a JDM for years, had to get rid of it as I moved and the locals were more than willing to have a go trying to hotwire it, luckily they couldn't.

Unfortunately older cars and JDMs are too easy to steal, scumbags know this so they'll keep at them. All you can do is stop them driving away in it, they can still destroy it.

I actually had the handiest security device installed in the car - a great lump of a motorbike chain bolted to the floor and a serious lock for wrapping around the steering wheel. Problem was I only used it when it wasn't in it's underground carpark spot. I guess I've learned something.

I hope that couldn't reach you in an accident?

tbh - it's not a car I'd like to have an accident in, chain or no chain. It promotes careful driving.

Perhaps not, but a chain will really f*ck you up.

A BFO chain is better than nothing, but can still be easily defeated since the wheel is made from soft metal.

Ive only ever seen a chain as a minor deterrent; as in, if I have the steering wheel visibly chained and the car next to me doesnt then hopefully they will pick the other car as mine is too much hassle. If anyone really wants the car then a chain isnt going to stop them for long.

had the idea of turning the Radio to full volume when locking the car at night, if the Scumbag manages to get past the locks, alarm, immobilizer at least I dont think he will be expecting to be blasted with the Kinks when he turns the engine on.:)

A wise man once said to me "locks only keep honest people out".

Don't think I've ever heard truer words tbh.
