Speedway Motorsports, which owns and operates eight different racetracks around the United States, is looking to add a new track to its portfolio.

Only it's not talking your average Bristol Motor Speedway or Texas Motor Speedway.

What it's talking is an American Nurburgring. And what better way to bring the Nurburgring to America than with the Nurburgring?

    Full story here

Are the yanks mad enough to pull it off?

That's mad to say the least, the track has a height difference of over 250m I think from the highest to the lowest point. That's a huge engineering feat if they do manage it.

I've never seen a map like that before where it gives speeds and gears. But for what car?

Sounds like a good idea I just see the Americans getting some key fact wrong and shagging it all up

I can see them unveiling it now...

"Oh yeah, one more thing...you remember all those awkward corners in the original track? Well, we fixed 'em. We fixed the hell out of them!"

    :D

I'll only truly respect it if they put the distances and speeds in KM. :P:D

There will always only be one Ring.

Sure all the corners will be "55 D" on the US version?

    Real fact filled piece!

"the company has been in talks with Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, the Bureau of Land Management and some Germans"

    What? random germans?

+1. Other concerns are their description of it as a race-track, which we all know is nonsense, because it's a toll-road, which is why if you crash, they call the cops, not the track marshalls.

Also of concern is the fact that a lot of Nevada is desert and rather than building the green-hell they'll build the sandy-hole.

They probably picked up the "some Germans" thing from Jeremy Clarkscum.

Ve vill need a large forest to shtart mit

No goddam forests in Nevada, Fritz

Very gutt. Ve vill shtart mit ze forest in Washingtown state

Washington state is too far from Las Vegas Fritz

Zen ve vill moof Las Vegas, it is more simplez

    Think it's closer to 800m
