    Hi all,

Just after damaging laptop screen today and was wondering would any of you guys have an idea how much it would cost me to get it fixed/replaced roughly. Its an Acer 5755G, bought from Komplett and is still in warranty. Normally I would do without and send it back to Acer but I have a lot of college assignments at the moment so kinda need it repaired fairly quick. So not sure what is the best option tbh, any suggestions are welcome.

Two quick fix solutions since your in a rush...

1-connect to a PC monitor via a VGA connection
2-connect to a hd tv via a hdmi cable(if your laptop has an hdmi output)

Already doing that, much faster than my knackered pc, will keep me going for a bit anyway and have all my essential files backed up on dropbox as well.

Cool man, I always have a hard copy of backup files either on disk's or portable hard drive just to be super save...

Also to answer your previous question, cost of screen repair can vary between €50 upto €250 depending what's wrong...In some cases it can be cheaper to get a new laptop(in rare enough circumstances)

Get a new screen on line and fit it yourself.

would try that if I had a clue about fitting but afraid that I would manage to mess it up. rang acer about it and they will repair it hopefully, sending it off tomorrow.

To replace a screen LCD is will be in the range of €110 - €170 depending where you go. This will include the sourcing of the screen and the fitting of it.

Can in most circumstances be done in a few hours depending on how busy it is where you take it and provided they have the screen in stock.

Check your house insurance, they usually cover repairs and may even have it repaired for you

:confused: What screen do you charge €170 to replace and that'll take a few hours to do?

Here is a step by step how to replace the screen, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9ZwVZkdqkI, here is just one of many places to buy a screen http://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/laptopparts/ACER-ASPIRE-5755G-15.6-LAPTOP-SCREEN_16694.asp, you coulddo the whole job yourself for about €80.00( depending on exchange rates) if you don't feel you woud be up to fitting the screen. Most places will fit it for about €60.00.
If you try to claim on your house insurance, first you will need to get it repaired for about €350.00 if you have an excess on your policy, secondly you will be paying for it with increased premiums for about 3yrs.
