Advice - no periods after pill

I am into day 46 of my cycle and am not pregnant (unfortunately). I came off the pill Oct 2011, have had cycles of 26, 27 and 31 and my periods seem to have just stopped. I am concerned as I am older and would like my periods to return so I know when I'm ovulating and continue to try to conceive etc.

I did a cheap Tesco test on day 42 in the evening (said to test in the morning on the packet, don't know if that makes a difference).
Want to avoid the doc if I can (as too expensive). The only symptoms I have are very faint cramps, no other symptoms.

    Any advice most welcome.

hi there,Do you use opk or charting.Do you know when you ovulate?Your periods seemed pretty normal up to now.Sometimes you can have a cycle where you just don't ovulate.Never happened to me as far as i'm aware(i temp and use opk),but is common,if you didn't ovulate this month might make up for lack of af.If you are ttc a trip to the doc might be a good idea to discuss this..Also when af does arrive think about charting and using opk. This will give you a better understanding of your cycle and take the guessing and maybe stress out of it.Good luck:)

    Hi Oleander,

It can take up to six months for your cycle to come back to normal. If you are completely unsure where you are in your cycle I would judge by your cervical mucus (CM) - this is your bodies natural way of telling you you are ovulating and CM also the best for keeping sperm alive waiting on your egg.

You can buy some cheap pregnancy tests in boots. They recommend you use your first urine of the day as it is at it's most concentrated threfore if HCG is present it's more likely to show up. I buy the strips version on line (they work out about 30cent each)

If you haven't been lucky this time you can take Agnus Castus on the first day of your next period - his can help shorten you cycle lenght and increase you CM. You only take this up until you ovulate. In addition I would recommend some cheap Ovulation Predictor Strips (OPK's) - you can get them very cheap on ebay - these will help you work out when you are ovulating.

A lot of the girls on here use temping - I personally haven't tried it yet - but I hear it can be quite helpful.

    Best of luck xxx

I don't use OPK's - don't know much about them? What's charting?? Sorry for being a bit ignorant. I am keeping a diary for my periods when they eventually return! I presume I ovulate around day 17 if I base it on a 31 day cycle but it's erratic at the mo. I had two faints before xmas and after coming off the pill, one in Oct and one in December so putting it down to hormones. I did go to the doc in Jan and mentioned I was off the pill, he asked if I was trying for kids, I said if it happens naturally then so be it. But now I've missed a period kinda got excited so yes, I would like to get pregnant. Don't really want to go to the doc unless I have to, would the doc tell me anything different?

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. ALL APPRECIATED. I'M SORRY I DIDN'T COME OFF THE PILL EARLIER LAST YEAR.
