    Hi. Two questions.

    If I buy a can of Coca-Cola in Centra do I pay VAT on it? Any reference links etc with proof with be better thanks.

    Also, Frank, in Oslo in Norway what kind of plug type do they have? A picture of the plug type would be best. or two prongs or three would be ok aswell.

    And... should Rory shift your wan or not tonight?

    No VAT on coke, it is a foodstuff and as such exempt.

    VAT is for things we don't need to buy, like medicines and bagels.

    i said, if you were entertaining a client. or you were giving out cans of cokes to your employees. then you would not be paying the vat on coke. i thought you genuinely wanted to know why you would NOT pay vat on a can of coke.

    Cheque= vat
    Cash = no vat
    Works round here for most purchases (usually bigger than coke cans though)

    My dealer thought he'd be funny and charge me VAT on a kilo of coke the other day. I retorted by asking if he was declaring his earnings :rolleyes:

    Coca Cola / Coke is not considered a basic foodstuff. It is considered a luxury item and subject to the full 23% VAT rate.

    Orally consumed medicines are VAT free as are Bagels if bought in a supermarket but if purchased in a Deli they may be liable.

    It depends. If the Centra is situated on a fork in the road then no.
